thesis is a "good" theme, make no mistake, but its overrated imho. Simply adding a header needs CSS knowledge and code hacking. Certainly nothing i expect from a $179 theme. I really think thesis got its fame MOSTLY from the fact that matt cutts uses it on his blog.
I also highly doubt it does more in regards to SEO than most (not all!) free themes in conjunction with a good SEO plugin.

It isn't code hacking, it is customisation. It defintely isn't an off the shelf theme but it is very easy to make it fit the design that you require. The ability to add custom hooks without having to modify core files also makes it quite powerful. I think it would be popular in the web development market for this reason.

I've debated between using Thesis and Headway for quite some time now. Both look good. But in the near future I plan to use Headway because it looks like it will be easier to customize. If I had the time I'd create my own custom seo theme but time is the issue here.

I'd love to hear what people who have used either theme or both have to say about them, especially as far as customization goes.

I have Avenue Girl's affiliate link for Headway but haven't bought it yet but aim to. It appears to have all of thesis' benefits and easier customization from a distance.

? I genuinely thought because I had seen quite a few thesis threads pop up that this could help.

Its not like I went out and looked for this post, I went past a post on the site zacjohnson.com, saw he was posting references to other guides.

Thought it might be useful.

Do you not know the power of word of mouth? When people see something that is valuable or could help others, they usually feel inclined to share it.

Either because they genuinely want to help (me) or because they find the post valuable enough to give to others in return for building up their credibility and trust.

Personally I just do it to help others, I'm not going to pretend I want to help people and find useful posts, I research for myself and if I happen to find something people like I'll share it in the hope that it does genuinely help.

Does Flexibility have SEO built in or do you have to install plugins for that? I know with Thesis and Headway its built right in. Expert Wordpress Installer is good too (it comes with all the seo plugins already) and that one is free.

Let me know what you know about the SEO set up in FlexibilityTheme, they don't say too much about it on their site (unless I overlooked it).

No, you have to get the "All In One SEO" plugin, but that's another easy install.

The FLexibility2 theme has a awesome customization menu where you can change almost all features in a few clicks, including adding your AdSense ID and your Analytics.

Till now I didn't found another WP theme that is that easy to use ( +for Free).

thesis is hard to use for people who don't want to go through that learning curve, but i've seen great results from others, so i agree it's worthy learning it

however, headway is so much easier for customizing, it's just easy

i love that one

I have a love/hate relationship with Thesis. The backend is amazing with the amount of options that you are provided both in the options and when posting pages/posts and the potential for customization via hooks is amazing. Having said that certain tasks which would be relatively simple in other themes are harder to acheive within Thesis. Another thing that really bugs me is the default form styling that automatically breaks your paypal buttons and aweber forms until you create your own CSS fix.

In summary it's great if you know what you are doing or get someone who does to set it up for you.

Doesn't anyone use semiologic pro anymore? It is the only one I use for all my sites...

Are my sites beautiful? Well - maybe not - but the setup and backend are awesome.

And yes I am an affiliate - but not actively. (You would have to go to one of my sites to find the link!)

(Hmm that is kinda dumb for a marketer...) :-)

Like I said in my original post, "if I'm wrong I apologise." There is no need for the sanctimony. If you had been around here for more than five minutes you would know that we get a lot of people joining solely to game the system, as it where.

Many of us take the trouble to moderate such things.

Also, with regard to your sarcasm concerning "word of mouth," by the fresh faced look of your avatar there is a good chance I was using such marketing methods whilst you were in diapers.

Thesis is over-hyped and i have seen many IM users are using it on blogs that way many blogs look same as they don't make header navbar modification. Better to try different themes from clubs like woothemes, elegant themes etc.
