I hope article marketing is not dead because I truly feel its the foot in the door to internet marketing. Plus im just getting started with this thing. Which brings a question I've had ever since I discovered that it is possible to make serious dough online...

After reading many ebooks , especially when it comes to affiliate marketing, i find that almost everyone one of them says to brainstorm for a niches. use things you have passion for, things that you like to do, things that you know very well, or do everyday. you guys know what im talking about. I understand the concept. In fact, I did the brainstorming and all that. It resulted in niches that seem to have too much competition. Such as.. "making money online." or "how to lose weight." how does a newbie like myself, with niches that are being dominated already break down the niche so far. I mean, is it possible to break down article marketing even further?? to keywords maybe?? any further??

just a couple thoughts i wanted to share...

I personally would come at it from a different direction, the search term "how to lose weight" has nearly 35,000,000 results without quote marks, you would have to be something special to get ranked in that particular niche I think, though nothing is ever impossible.

Try going for something a little less flooded out such as "choosing a kitchen knife" or other such thing, it has 90,000 results (without quote marks) for that exact search and with a little work you should be able to rank quite highly on it, there are literally millions of niches like this...you just have to find them.

Money and weight online can be done, but for a newbie you are probably best trying to dominate smaller niches and working your way up

Article marketing is dead but I am making money from it. It is actually dead for those who can not be bothered to do something different from others.

    Micro-niche.

Easiest way to break your niches down -- well there are a few.

Go to dmoz.org and check them out. Who cares if they never list your site. That's not why you're there. Look under weight loss -- then look under all the different categories -- what will you find?

Weight Loss ==> Diabetic Weight Loss ==> etc.

Or, what about ==> Lose Thigh Fat ==> Lose Belly Fat ==> Lose Butt ==> Shrink Waist Line?

See, weight loss is way to broad(no pun intended), it needs to be broken down.

    Here's another example.

Fishing -- don't try it -- too saturated.

    But break it down . . .

How To Catch Flounder Fast At Night

How To Tie Flies For Fly Fishing

How To Select The Best Bait To Catch Saltwater Catfish . . .

    Golf -- Too Broad

How To Be A Pro Level Player and Not End Up Like Tiger

Ok that's a joke but I think you get the idea

Also, go to the categories on Amazon, eBay, Craigslist, etc. Even better, check out the category microniches on ezinearticles! WOW!

They should help you get an idea of how to micro-niche

    Another one . . .

Back Pain -- Way Too Broad

Pinched Nerves In Back, On Spine, etc. . .

Narrow it down. . . everything has a parent, and everything has a family tree -- just select a member.
