Gosh, I am a idiot !!

I just figured out that ALL the Keyword research I have done in the last 1.5 years with Google Adwords Tool was done on default by accident which is Broad Match !! I just assumed it was Exact Match and I didnt even know there was a place to choose from and scroll down to Exact MAtch .
What a dumb arse !!

So I have 16 Niche Blogs I promote and have a NoteBook that I have painstakenly handwritten literally thousands of Keywords I use for these 16 Blogs. And it based on Broad Match !!
When it should have been Exact Match all this time.

I am such an idiot. I feel embarrassed and all this Work and I am left with inaccurate stats !! What a waste !

I guess you live and learn !!

At least you have found out and can now improve your sites by finding better keywords

ouch, better late than never, although it can be argued that broad match is fine because most people do not search using quotes but to each their own.

That really sucks to hear. I use market samurai for all my exact match keywords that I need. But I think if I used the google adwords tool I would make the same mistake.

I guess I am not too bummed because even with these Keywords that I hugely overestimated ( underestimated which would be worse IMO) their Searches I am still NOT even on the first page of for most of them.

As I am going over this, I am finding almost all the these BROAD Match Keywords I used had at least 1,000 more Searches a Month for EXACT Match anyway !!

What was advantageous for me is that I hardly ever went below 10k searches a month when erroneously finding used BROAD match Keywords , thank goodness.

    Hi Discrat,

It would be interesting to see if you've made sales and have had traffic so far on your 16 blogs using the "Broad" research.

If you have I would'nt beat yourself up too much about it we all do daft things. I agree with the above better late than never. IM is a continuing learning process.

    Broad, exact...

    Same cake, different mixture

Just do what you have to do with them and drop/flip the ones you can't rank page1-2.

The real gold? If there is a market OR not. And for that you already have the answer

People make good money selling to the rich. But the rich got rich selling to the masses.

Did the same mistake, later found out those keywords were useless and stopped working on those sites. I actually only worked on 1 and a half site so it could have been worse. Ended up wasting quite a bit on domains and content but it was a lesson learned for cheap.

If I were you, I'd get these sites up if you have content written already. There's going to be some amount of exact searches if not much. Or other way to recover costs would be just to sell the articles.

Oh yes they are up and running. And the Keywords that were based on Broad are still definitely useful for Exact as is the Domain Names !!

We're only human and we make mistakes. Atleast you were good enough to admit it and find some humor in it too. I personally would have kept a lil technical error like that under my hat...not that I've ever mistakenly used broad match keywords before *coughs*...lol

Dude, it's not too bad. You could do much worst than that. You could do things to get your site banned from Google...

I wanted to say that you learn from your mistakes and for this lesson you paid XY, but this one is such a minor mistake and the lesson is so small, so never mind... Just go on, fix what needs to be fixed and make some money...
