How Do You Keep Track of Your Accounting?

Just curious how many of you are using accounting / tax software to keep track of expenses etc.

if so what program(s) do you use?

I'm currently using QuickBooks, but I'm starting to get annoyed with having a version on my laptop, and home PC, that I have to constantly keep syncing together.

Is anyone aware of a Book Keeping software that is web-based so that I could enter expenses on the go (i.e. Restaurant expenses etc.) and it'll be sync'd no matter what computer I'm on?

Even better if there's one that could work with say an iPhone App, Blackberry, Droid etc.

PS - How many of you actually have an Accountant you pay to look over your taxes each year vs doing it yourself?

    Hey Dexx,

Most outfits now offer an online version, including quickbooks: QuickBooks Online — Free Accounting Software for Business

I've also heard that Free Personal Finance Software, Budget Software, Online Money Management and Budget Planner | Mint.com is a great way to go, but they were just purchased by intuit and there may be changes coming.

I personally have never liked Intuit products and I use Simply Accounting. It does a fantastic job, but I should also say that I have some accounting background. For folks that don't think much in terms of debits and credits, Quickbooks seems the more popular choice.

I do all of my accounting from one place, so I don't worry about syncing. It seems like an online option would be a good fit (but that does represent a monthly fee).

Lol, of course they would have an online version! Wow I'm dumb...thanks for the heads up!

I like working with Quickbooks since I do my taxes using QuicktaxWeb and they naturally go together (plus they are HQ'd in my City...gotta support the local economy

    Thanks Dan!
