Dragon Naturally Speaking => Video Transcripts?

Just wondering if anyone successfully uses a voice-to-text program like Dragon Naturally Speaking to create PDF transcripts from videos / audio files?

I don't own DNS yet but would be much more inclined to buy if it could do this.

    I have had some success in making transcripts from audio recordings. Keep in mind that when you are dictating, you insert commands such as paragraph breaks, punctuation, etc. When transcribing from a presentation (audio or the audio track from video) none of those things are present.

    DNS made some good guesses about punctuation, etc., but there will be a lot of clean-up necessary to get the transcript all pretty and nice.

    Also, if you are trying to transcribe a file with multiple voices, you will probably not have much success at all. You must train voice recognition software to understand how you speak. When there are multiple speakers, it will be thoroughly confused.

      Idealady is absolutely right.

      If you wanted to use DNS to transcribe an audio with multiple voices you may just have to listen to the audio and dictate as you go, adding punctuation.

      DNS is very good but there is no software that is a push button solution for perfect audio transcription.

        Yes. Just as adamv said, there is no one perfect software solution to give you a one-click audio transcription. Human processor is still the best even though it is energy and time consuming.
