I definitely would! But only if the comish is 75%. And if its a really awesome ebook, with new unique info, the conversions would be high, because you are providing good value for the money. The sales page would have to over-deliver for high conversions though.

I wouldn't, UNLESS I had a big list and your product was really good quality - at least then I'd be guaranteed to make some sales. Otherwise it probably wouldn't be worth it.

Hi Aaron,

I guess I would be operating off a different criteria. My questions would be:

How good is the content?
How good (conversion rate) is the sales page?
Is it something that people would say to themselves, "Wow, I got a great bargain on that one!"?
Do I have a potential to sell a lot of this product? (many people looking for this?)

If I could make up in volume what I lose in amount per sale, then I'd do it.

  If the niche had very low competition and it was a product that solved a huge problem, therefore loads of sales I would promote it no problem.

I guess the real reason I'm asking is because I wouldn't promote it for a $14 commission myself. Just simply because of the low commission.

The only reason for the poll, then, would be to seek permission for something your gut tells you not to do. That's still not going to change the outcome.

I would promote a product with a $14.00 Commission as a lead generator. Then I would market higher priced products and services on the back end to my customers/clients.

You're saying that you'd select the lower price point because you think it will convert better and at the same time saying to assume the same conversion rate as the higher priced product. It has to be one or the other, no?

Given equal product quality it doesn't make sense to me to promote a lower priced product that converts at the same rate.

Well, I would. Heck, I still do $1 e-mail submits every now and then. The key is to SCALE.

1,000,000 $1.00 e-mail submits = $1,000,000!...and there is very little that the user has to do!

You're right, I should have said it will convert a little higher.

Obviously if it offered the same quality and value as the $50-$60 products it would convert higher at the lower price.

I'm currently selling a product that only gets me $8 per sale. I don't promote it. The page is sitting on my server somewhere and people find it somehow. It's one of those no-brainers. No work, but you get paid. How nice is that?

Why am I not promoting it? Because I have related products that bring me $37 per sale. By having his $8 product on my page, my visitors were choosing his cheaper product instead of the more expensive one. As a result, I made less money overall. So I removed the product from the listings, but kept the unlinked review page.

Given the choice, I might put your product on my site but I probably wouldn't put much effort into promoting it unless it was a hot, easy seller.

I certainly would! That comes with the usual disclaimers of... IF it is good, and IF it provides value, etc etc etc.

Granted a $14 commission doesn't leave much to play with PPC-wise, but a free campaign? You bet!

That's a good point I forgot about. I was bidding pretty high to make that $13 sale, so I went on an SEO frenzy and got ranked really high... now almost all of the sales are pure profit which makes the $13 a lot sweeter.

You must have some great back end products to be paying out $14.00 in commissions. That will only leave you $5.95 to pay CB & PP fees. Can you not get more for your product?

Maybe he is going for a long-term business model... build a list of proven buyers. It is much smarter to lower prices to get buyers in the door b/c they will keep your paid for years to come (assuming you treat them right).

I look offering my list good stuff so if the report is really good I wouldn't have a problem even if my commission is low. Builds my relationship with my list. So I think with smaller list owners you won't have a problem. Someone with 10,000 list or whatever maybe they wouldn't.

You might consider using RAP and offer your affiliates 100% to add proven buyers to your list. Just a thought.

  Aaron, can you offer an upsell where you sell a Premium package for say $47 or $67 and throw in something additional such as an audio version of your ebook, an audio interview series, a 1/2-hour group coaching call, etc...?
  
  At least then your affiliates have the potential of 50% or higher that they will earn a $30 + commission, but your customer still has the option of purchasing the basic package as well?

It all depends on the niche,

If your in a niche that has almost no other products for aff to promote, then your product will be a blessing for them becuase they have nothing else!

But, if its in a packed niche, lets say "make money online" for an example,
Then there are HUNDREDS of other pruduts for them to promote, and they will promote someone else's even if its not as good, simply because they will make more money. Which is there goal...

So it really depends on the market or niche.

No, I don't. Why? Because lack of informations on about

- the niche
- the quality of product
- the demand of the audience
- the tools helping the selling
- the conversions rate

I'd like to note in general, if I cannot earns min a $20 then it isn't worth deal with it, because the workload is same if you can make $14 only or can make $20 or over.

On the other hand if your eBook has fantastic quality and you priced it at least $29.95 and you offer 75% commission what is $22.46 then it will be considerable. I know from my experience that the difference is not much in conversion if purchasers see the quality of your product.

Hope it helps to make clear my stadpoint.

  On the contarary i would focus on selling as much as i can the more i sell the more money i make.

For me it doesn't matter what the commission rate is.

If the product is something that can help my subscribers take their business forward then I'll let them know about it. NO MATTER WHAT THE COMMISSION RATE IS. If I can earn some nice commissions in the process then it's a bonus.

Too many marketers think about the payout and neglect their subscribers needs.

Well said John, you basically cover all I was going to say in this thread.

Take one of John's products for example, it's his Mentorship Monthly, each month it costs $10. You get 50% commissions. I enjoy getting the $5 commission each month, but I also enjoy getting something more for another product!

I feel I've done something right, and someone has enjoyed the information I've provided, so they want to thank me in some way or another!

Just my 2cents worth though!

Aaron my friend, follow NASA's lead ... NASA engineers say:

"1 test is worth a thousand expert opinions".

Use Adwords to split test the 3 or 4 classic price points - 17/27/37/47/67/97. Yes 97 too - see below*. This test is quick and decisive - let the market tell you.

Oh and just because the quality may be as good as the more expensive books, it doesn't mean it will convert better at the lower price point, for 2 reasons:

1- * You cannot get away from the fundamental human psychology (or flaw) that higher price = higher quality

2- the classic mistake of all affiliate marketers is to think the customer will be swayed by product quality - nope! Not a chance. The customer nevvvver sees the product.

All he sees, before buying, is the sales letter. In your case the affiliates too will judge you by price (& they won't even consider the sales letter which is their big mistake).

So they won't know that you have a better product that WILL convert better at a lower price. How could they! Listen even you/we don't know, which is why we're debating it here!

I would hesitate to promote a CB at $14, but would promote a $7 Secrets or RAP item. With CB, I only promote big buck because I can only get big cheques from them due to my hassles banking them.

If there is a fit for my list and it is a good value, heck yes I would promote it. The main thing would be to determine if if the the value it would give my subscribers is worth it.

I wouldn't have a problem. If I thought the product was good quality and it would be helpful for my list, I'd tell them about it. I don't choose my products to promote according to how big the commission is.

I would give it a try if it was a good product. I would need more information to determine that. If it is a product that isn't moving/converting, then it may not be worth the effort. It's not so much about the commission as it is how well the product is going to sell.

Sure, depends on the Quality and how easy it would be to promote it, as in list only etc.

But for driving PPC traffic, anything under 20 bucks is a but low to cover the costs.
