my accent sucks and my tips are BS

... or so a new subscriber on my list thinks.

So I just got my first 'hate mail' or whatever you choose to call it. Does that mean I'm on the right track and getting noticed?

This is from a person who opted in with a name "some name" to get on the list. So when I saw the name I instantly thought the worse before I even got to the comment part.

Ah well. Part of the game I guess.

    Maybe.

But a better test is how well your list converts on the offers you send.

    Cheers,
    Becky

p.s. As for comments like that -- yep, everyone gets stuff like that from time to time. If you sense someone is just yanking your chain, ignore 'em.

Try not to let it get you down. I learned a long time ago to just shrug and get past it. Some people are just jerks with nothing better to do than to drag others down into their own miserable sewer of a life. Delete him and move on.

You don't state in your profile where exactly you're from but as far as accents, unless it is a very thick accent that makes it hard to understand, I for one enjoy listening to others speak.

They could've at least been a bit more original in their hate mail

I knew a guy whose accent did suck and generated dozens if not hundreds of complaints. Some of his tips were actually BS as well. He made around 3 million dollars from this kind of stuff though.

Take the rough with the smooth my friend.

When I wrote the original post I was thinking of another thread on the WF stating that unless you receive some type of hate mail, you will still be an 'internet marketing virgin'.

That was what I was referring when I said I am on the right track.

Teresa, yes they could have been more original. At least I would have gotten some type of laugh from it.

The thing is that the video that I was critised on has already received a good number of (20+) reviews from people who sent their feedback on it.

So I'm sure it's just a one off case from someone who had nothing better to do with their time.

    Anyway thanks for your comments,
    Kevin

What one person thinks doesn't matter.

It's what everybody thinks that matters.

      Track your CTR, conversions, everything.

If you're on the wrong track, don't worry, your list will let you know with
a resounding closing of the wallet.

It does mean you are on the right track or wrong track. If you are selling a cheap product and sold a few and you got this, then I would say wrong track.

If you have sold hundreds and one guy complaints. Let it be, you will get people like that.

    Cheers,
    Mukul

If people are annoyed by your marketing practices it's a
sign they are aggressive practices.... and aggressive is often
    effective.

While the person could be just crazy or abusive, chances are
they are frustrated, broke, and venting on you.

In my opinion, that should only be an inspiration for you to work ten times harder. Remember, not everyone is going to like whatever you are doing!

Just make sure you are doing the right thing and who ever goes against that it's their problem

Nothing matters except your cost per acquisition (cost per new lead) and your overall profit per subscriber. Steven is right. Your list is a completely free market. They will let you know what they think by shutting their wallet, or opening it up to you.

I also agree with what Loren stated. Most people who complain are just frustrated and broke and have not yet found the clearing yet in all the IM mess.

I answer all of my "reason for unsubscribing" messages personally...or as often as I can. When I am selling a product in a message series and someone unsubcribes and the reason they state is they "because I cannot afford it" I follow-up with them and offer them a free report showing them how to do everything manually and for free.

There are a ton of ways to work with people. In the beginning I used to let that one crazy comment or unsubscribe notice get me down. Not anymore.

The truth is that most people are genuinely frustrated and have not learned to take any real "action" yet. They "react" to everything and get nowhere. I do my best to help them out.

People all have the same desire to be free and learn what it takes. Give people every outlet you can to vent. You will find that you will get just as much praise as you do "hate mail".

Kevin one of the things you and I have to remember is; We Can't Please Everyone!

Look I know it's hard not to take comments like this, as a personal attack, on your abilities. After all this is your baby, that's being insulted. But, becoming angry or dwelling on it will only impair your ability to concentrate on the things that are important to you. Trust me on this I have been there and done that. Just as I suspect almost every person here on this forum has been at one time or another in their life.

However, you can also use this as a learning experience, There may be a chance that some of your other folks on your list feel the same way. But were too polite to say so. Go back and view your tips and ideas, make sure they are valuable or perhaps you need to kick them up a notch. Make something positive out of the negative feedback.

Shouldn't matter as far as you sound understandable. The world wide web is too broad a spectrum to spot and criticize accents. I for one would never complain if I purchase a course or an audio of some kind and get someone with a really strong accent. Unless of course it isn't understandable at all. As long as I can make out the words and get what they saying it shouldn't be a problem.

Like I said, It is THE internet. You can't expect everyone to speak in your own twang and use your next door neighbor slang. So If someone unsubscribed leaving those comments. You might wanna follow up asking if it was hard to understand or was it just personal preference. If others don't have a problem then you are alright don't worry about it.

During a television show someone made fun of the guest speaking English with a strong Spanish accent to which he replied

'Don't make fun of someone with an accent. It only means that he know one more language than you do'. Solid example init.

I personally am petrified by the thought of recording something just cos of it but I guess replying to this thread gave me some of the answers too.

    Thanks mate.
