Do You Write Like a Zombie?

Whew.

I was just writing a JV introduction letter and I got hit hard by a serious wave of depression. Everything I had written could've just been copied from a "Strategic Partnership" letter.

Sure, I understand the need to be professional (to make communication easier, right?), but it was zombifying (new, really cool word). Like, I couldn't even tell I'd written it.

Ever happen to you, or am I just taking a juvenile approach to business comms?

Personalize your letters a bit more... you don't have to act too buddy-buddy (wouldn't recommend it anyway), but just relax as you write. If it sounds stiff and lifeless to you now, I guarantee it will sound the same to any potential partners.

Oh yeah, I get that the letters have to be personalized, I was just noticing how easy it is to go into zombie land when trying to be "professional."

Great point. Would you say you want people to "hear" your voice as they're reading? I always try to write the way I talk. Sure, when I'm surfing I talk different than when I'm in physics class, but just the technical jargon changes, not the operators.

Kinda reminds me of scope creep, getting out of shape and other stuff that happens gradually (can't really think of any right now).

Maybe you need JV intro-writing classes, Lance?
Anyway, maybe it's bland to you but somebody else might think differently?
