Which Search Engines to Use?

Warriors,

Obviously I submit my sites to Google, but which other sites should I submit to?

Do you use a submission service that submits to lots in one go?

Thanks,
Chris

Just stick to the big 3... Google, Yahoo, and MSN. Of course the pain is optimizing your site for 3 different search engines. What one search engine looks at and factors into rankings might be completely ignored by the other.

But if you just want to pick one, then just ask yourself... Where do you go to search for something online?

I am sure that if you asked all your customers that question, that 99% would say Google.

The thing to remember is what has a factor on which search engine is used. A person might use Internet Explorer as their browser which has MSN.com as the default home page. There are beaucoups of links throughout that page that link to "bing" searches. Or they might use Firefox which uses Google as the default page. Or they might use Yahoo email which is just a click away from their search engine.

I tend to focus most of my efforts on Google, because they provide the most accurate results. You are better served by not worrying so much about SEO with other search engines, but focusing more time on increasing conversions with the traffic you do receive.

    Dennis
