Urgent Question Regarding E-mail Marketing

Hello Warriors,

My partner and I have a database of 61,300 members that belong to one of our websites we operate. These members have confirmed their e-mail for us within the past 6 months, however, we were using Mach 5 Version 4 Mass Mailer for communication with these members in bulk. We are about to launch a new product specifically targeting these members, but we are afraid using Mach 5 may land a lot of our e-mails in Spam (although these members KNOW who we are, and it is NOT spam) We would love to use a service like Constant Contact, etc. But we don't want them to require our members to Re-Opt In or Confirm their Opt-In, because we are afraid we will lose a lot of our member's e-mails for the marketing campaign.

Any ideas? Thanks Warriors.

RE: Signature... that is by far my favorite quote of all time.

    RE: Current Dilemma.

Asking something like that on this forum is dangerous. You could receive some misguided and inaccurate advice. While there is a chance you could get good advice, you are better off looking into authorities on this topic.

I would start by contacting whatever board or agency that handles the "CAN SPAM" act, as they would likely be able to provide you with the best and most accurate answer on what needs to take place in switching "email marketing systems".

Then I would start contacting services like iContact, Aweber, Constant Contact, etc. and find out what options you have for transferring such a large list to their service and even if they can facilitate that transfer at all.

Some services by default may require list members to opt in again attempting to remain "CAN SPAM" compliant.

    Hope that helps.

I understand, we are aware of that. We have an active database now of contacts, we were hoping we could find a provider that could just plug right into our database. Our only worry continuing to use Mach5 is that it IS a bulk mailing software, and therefor, the risk of getting messages moved to spam is increased over using a provide like Aweber or Constant Contact, etc. I will begin making calls tomorrow But thanks

Another option you may want to look into is a hosted email server with a company like RackSpace with a dedicated ip, ssl certificate, and other identity measures to prove the email came from who the email says it is from and that the headers haven't been modified. In a sense you would be hosting your own email service, and would need to also look into a good contact management software to handle followups, marketing campaigns, etc.

Wouldn't you know already is the messages are getting through if this is the case? you are already using it to communicate right?

As far as I understand every time you switch an AR there is a whole new opt in procedure they have to go through I may be wrong but that is how I understand it

We have no way of tracking messages, no, with our current system. So, we don't know EXACTLY how much is getting through, and how much isn't. We see response to our broadcasts, but for all we know, it could be far limited to what it should be.
