How Can I Use My Twitter to Help Haiti?

Hi!

Is there a way for me to use Twitter as the tool to help people in Haiti?

Also, if you know of any sites that are specifically for Haiti , pls let me know too.

Thanks

Well you can tweet out about the aid needed and point people to where they can drop donations.

A place like UNICEF is a good choice for giving donations:

Thank you for the site. At least, it is a reputable site and I hope that the donations will be able to REALLY reach the people in need and not the wrong people

If you're ever unsure as to the legitimacy or effectiveness of a charity, it might be wise to see what is said about the charity at Charity Navigator - America's Largest Charity Evaluator | Home.

UNICEF looks pretty good and the American Red Cross looks like a good bet. There are many other charities though, many of which devote a large part of donations to paying administrative costs and salaries. In other words, not very much of each dollar donated actually goes to helping the people the charity supposedly helps.
