Need Opinions.. Whats Better Software or Ebooks

Hello Everyone

So here is what i have been doing.

For 2 years i have been building lists giving away books that i have written.

So just recently in the last 4 months i have changed my tactics since everybody and their mother gives away free ebooks.

So i wanted to try to have some type of software made or even find a PLR software product.

So i found a few and then started giving it away free to build a list.

Well giving away the free software has tripled my list.

Matter of fact i have put more people on my list giving away the free software in 4 months than it did giving away a free ebook in the last year.

So whats your opinion on this?

Whats better in your business?

Thanks
Craig

PLR software you used? OR your own? Creating your own is always the best way go but if you don't want to spend a few g's I like your idea and I've done the same method with a PLR article submitter software with PLR ebook on article marketing and had affiliate links in ebook to monetize the giveaway-added crazy value to my list and also use this method in Ad swaps as well

      Hey Tim

Thanks for the response and for the tip.

Never thought about doing this with an ad swap

Hey Craig, did you create the software? Or is it just something created by someone else?

What i did was paid someone to create the product for a hefty price.

Im not that good a coding/programming unless it has to do with visual basic 6 but i also bought a few PLR products which are very cheap. Like around 20 30 bucks

Wouldn't this be really situational... If your in the knitting market then software would be a waste of time and an Ebook would be much higher value. It all depends on the market + if you take internet marketing for an example, an ebook on how to push adwords traffic could be seen as much higher value then a piece of software which creates you a campaign.

Yes you have a very good point.

I didnt even think about that in term i guess because im always thinking in terms of using scraper software to give away free.

I guess im just stuck on that type of niche.

          But your absolutely right.

          Thanks

softwares are really cool and they do usually get more responses. People are really excited to get to know the features of the software.

Like you said...everyone and their mother is giving away ebooks. Anything that can add more value to the offer, like a free software, is a great idea. I once gave away custom browser toolbars and my list grew faster than ever with that offer.

    Craig,
I am a writer and have been for longer than I care to admit, but in your poll, I voted for software.
I have written so many e-books for other marketers that I have lost count of them.
I do agree with Lee that the software versus e-book question depends on the niche.
"How to" subjects still work best using the e-book format, especially when the book is laced liberally with images, screen shots, video links and a hyper-linked table of contents.
I have recently started offering e-books as a series of folders, each chapter in its own folder to keep the reader from getting carpal tunnel finger from all the scrolling. Readers seem to like this format. It lends itself to instant gratification and who doesn't want that?

Software definitely. Ebook is losing its appeal given the influx of many rehashed materials

Custom browser toolbars are always a good idea. People like new gadgets.
