Thought I'd just share this testing method with you all....

So I thought I'd just share my thoughts with you concerning
my new business venture, it's only now, that I realise actually
how much work internet marketing is.

My Problem

As it stands, I'm currently in the throws of building a system
for my visitors to my site to go through. Obviously, being
reasonably business minded, I want this "system" to be as
efficient as possible. The only problem is, I have to design
this system around the opinions of a massive target audience,
the young, the old, the geeks, the jocks etc etc. My system
has to appeal to them all.

I can't have a question sheet asking my visitor about their
personality before I let them visit my site, that would just
be stupid (or would it????).

Anyway, like I was saying, people visit my site and I I want
to convert the most amount of people as possible, easy!

My Solution

In order to achieve this I have to test and adjust until I have
a really high converting "squeeze page."

I've come up with a really clever way of testing variations of
my squeeze page. Well I lie, I didn't come up with it but I'm
going to be using it.

The way it works is, I'll send a person to my squeeze page.

From there a little bit of php code will distribute each visitor
between the different variations of the page that I have
loaded into the script and uploaded onto my site via my FTP.

This is all well and good, but there's no way of guaging
which page ultimately does the best. Sorry, that's a lie too
because the way I get around this little conundrum is by
using a separate input form (from my autoresponder) on
each page, that way I can monitor from with in my
autoresponder account, which form (page) does the best.

It's really simple (and lazy) but I thought I'd share it with
you none the less!!

If you already knew this method (chances are you do)
then sorry for wasting you time, if you didn't I hope it
was useful for you!!

Thanks for sharing. This is called split testing, and it's been around for a while.. but it's good to see that you're utilizing it, and tracking the autoresponder as well.

Incidentally, to get the most accurate stats, you'll want to make sure that the same returning visitor sees the same version as before. (In my split testing script I use cookies and IP address to do this.) Otherwise you won't know precisely which version compelled them to subscribe.

    Keep up the testing!

Ye thanks for the advice, I'm not too sure how I'll be able to do that but I'm sure I can figure it out
