*WARNING- The post contains a 'hidden lesson' in copywriting.

"Find someone you 'identify with' to emulate."

What I just said is nothing new at all. I've seen it said many other ways on this forum, which brings me to my next point...

For those who are new, or are just trying to 'get it together' here's some help.

"If you have been jaded by the 'rehashed, reworked, rewritten drivel of others' negativity that you see so many complaining about, you need to get this grip on reality: People respond to who and what they identify with.

This is the first reason why every new 'newbie manual' still sells, even though it's been written a hundred times before, in a hundred different ways. They could have read "Joe Blow's Newbie Manual" but didn't 'get it' because the writer appeals to the emotional reader, and the reader is a 'cold hard numbers' personality.

* Some people respond to cold numbers and facts and statitics, so they are going to identify with the 'mentor' who is big on statistical data, analytical research and hard numbers and facts.
* Other people respond to emotion. They will identify with the struggle vs. triumph story telling mentor who faced fear and overcame advdersity.
*Some people respond to 'energy.' There are two types of energy. In everything, including marketing. Good and bad.

The bad energy is going to be the whiners and naysayers, these are the people who best respond to FEAR.

The 'good' energy is going to attract your 'team players.' Athletic and sporty types. Ra ra sis boom ba... you can do it... make the score, touchdown, rim shot and other phrases of speech like this will attract these high energy types.

*Some people respond to the "Ah HA! Factor." These are the intellectuals. The seekers of knowledge. Motivated more by power than money, these folk want respect and adoration. To them, money is only the means of achieving the goal of attaining 'guru status.'

Everything about copywriting to sell your creation has to excite and inspire your reader.

Because a good copywriter knows how to hit on every single one of these emotional responses to make a great sales letter, it's easy to think you 'identify' with them.

The nature of the beast is metaphorically cannibalistic. All you have to do to do all you have to do feeds off all you have to do.
(This appeals to the 'scholar, philospher, finder of hidden meaning, love a 'challenge' types.)

Similar in nature to the 'energy response crowd' but the sport for these people is in proving who has the bigger brain, not the bigger brawn. The scholar mentioned above is your target here.

Forums like this one are great for finding the 'mentor' for YOU. Watch what they write in the discussions outside of the 'selling forums' and you'll get to know who THEY really are. And that's who YOU should follow.
