I am having a guy submit my sites to 220 social bookmarking sites for $75... I think that's a better deal...

There are better ways to get results but if you're not doing any bookmarking and this will get you started, and you honestly believe you'll make your money back from having it - go for it.

I don't use tools like that as they're usually designed to trick the search engines and social sites into thinking your stuff is more popular than it is, so I say if you're going to do that, at least do it by getting real people to bookmark your pages - but it's a personal thing.

Just do what you believe is in-line with your business model.

does anybody know any kind of software that can speed up this process?

P.S i know about social marker and social poster

      Big Mike,

Just to be clear, I would need to first register as a user at each and every bookmarking site manually before I could use SocialBot.. right?

The program is called SocialBot from my company Incansoft. It does exactly what you're asking, i.e.; automating the boring parts.

Note though that this was specifically designed to NOT be an effective or very useful tool for spammers. Our goal is to get real, long-term results with the bookmarking services rather than just spam the crap out of them.

As an owner of a bookmarking site that is getting spammed by this program, I would highly not recommend it.
My site is niche related on the environment and global warming... and I am getting a ton of off topic stories submitted. My programmer is working on a block to this auto crap.

      Good for you.

It's only a matter of time before all sites like yours do the same thing but people will abuse this stuff until the penalty becomes too high to bother. You should spread the message to other site owners and sell them your solution when you have it working.

        interesting points Mike.

Are you saying that the process of manually submitting your own web pages to as many bookmarking sites as possible is something people should be doing? manually or otherwise?

I thought the idea was that social bookmarking was so that other people could bookmark your pages if they liked them.

They're not designed for people to bookmark all their own stuff, so it's hardly surprising that someone getting people bookmarking all their own content would want to stop that - automated or not.

        It's still spam - isn't it?

But the article is the only thing of value - without it, there's no value. Just posting links to your own stuff serves no-one but you.

I'm not saying it doesn't have an effect, just that it's not actually what the value of bookmarking is supposed to be about.

Since you sell a tool for self bookmarking I guess I'm sitting on a one-sided fence discussing this.

    Mike...

I'm not sure but I think he may have been talking about
the program mentioned in the OP. Since he didn't quote
from the post he was responding to I guess we'll have to
wait and see what he says.

"What purpose does it serve for anyone else to post bookmarks then? "

      You answered that yourself

"Social Bookmarking services were originally promoted as search engines by the people and for the people. In fact, they used to use Google as an example - rather than let a program decide page value people would. "

Right - and in the same way Google would frown you linking to your own stuff to try and make your site look important - bookmarking your own stuff is the same. When someone else does it, it's part of the social community effect of voting for your content as relevant.

I am also considering the purchase of Social Submitter or something similar.

Just as an FYI; I found a site called submit2please.com that will manually bookmark your site on 150+ Social Bookmarking sites. Rates start at $29.

No, sorry. I can see how it could be assumed that way, but no. I have nothing to do with that site. I was hoping to get some input about them before I shell out the buck$ on yet another marketing tool that may or may not do anything. The site is attractive to me because they do the social submitting manually instead of auto-batching it like all the other submitting sites I have found.

Basically, I'm trying to find anything that has strong reviews. I do have a website, and I've already spent a lot of money on "tools" and "software" that claimed to get my site in front of millions of people, and yet I see very little in the way of any increase to my site visits. In a nutshell, I'm tired of being scammed and want to know what has been sucsessful for others.
