Ezine Articles New "General Error" Messages...

Has anyone else had problems with this???

It seems like if it's not grammar, or any other excuse they can come up with they through back my articles saying there is a "General Error" and to contact them...

What does this mean? - Yes I've tried contacting them for many days with no response yet. Just curious if other Warriors have experienced these new changes in EZA and what we can do about it.

That's actually not new. EZA has had that error message since probably when they first started.

Yeah, I am sure "general error" is not a new way of denying articles but for right it seems that they are pulling this card far more then ever.

Out of the hundreds of articles I've submitted lately they've never used this one until this last week or so.

We know they've made other policy changes recently and now it looks like they're getting worse as far as what they accept.

This happened to me before. I contacted them and they responded rather, quickly. As it turned out, I was using a word they didn't want me to use in the title. Whatever.

On another note, EZA is starting to bother me with all these superfluous restrictions. There always seems to be an excuse to delay or reject your article.

My stuff usually gets approved within 24 hours and it's been over a year since I've had any difficulty getting an article approved on the first submission. Over the past two weeks I have submitted and had about 20 articles approved within 24 hours.

FSchmieder - How did that go when you sent back copies of other promotional articles that they approved??

I've thought of that but didn't know if it would work.

I've encountered this message recently. I have written and submitted hundreds of articles, I had 5 "General Error" messages in row. I write and submit 5-10 articles a day. Unfortunately, those 5 rejections were enough to get me knocked down to Basic Plus author rather than platinum. Since they didn't get back to me in the first place, I couldn't correct the problem the first time.

My concern isn't with the general error but with the time that it takes to get a response.

They just now set me back to Basic Plus as well.

Worked about half the time. They either said "ok nevermind" or "to promotional"

A friend of mine who used to work as an editor with a small town paper used to complain all the time about people sending in sales letters and ads with the words "press release" at the top, then complaining when the paper didn't immediately publish them.

            Sounds like the same gripe...

Her answer never changed: "You want to run an ad, buy an ad."

You want to run promotional pieces on EZA? Here's how:

            1. Set up an Adwords account with Google
            2. Go into the content network
            3. Site-target the pages you want to appear on
            4. Bid enough so your ad shows up in the slot you want.

The drawbacks are that you only get a headline, two text lines and a url, and you have to actually pay for your ads instead of expecting EZA to run them for free just because you label them as "articles".

Within days, sometimes hours, you'll be able to moan and groan about your quality score and how Google hates you instead of EZA...

Can you tell I'm a little light on sympathy here?

Those error messages at EZA are such BS. I always do reviews of products over there and they always kick them back saying I was to promotional. And then I send them several copies of articles on the same product that went live within a month of mine submission that are much more promotional than mine. Always a silly run around you have to go through with them so i stopped doing promotional articles with them

I've gotten this error a couple of times. I emailed them to get the exact reason and it did take a while to get a response...probably about two weeks.

One of my articles they didn't like was a negative review of mTurk and Cha Cha, and the other was because I mentioned traffic exchanges, even though my point was that traffic exchanges did not work and shouldn't be used.

In both cases, I just published my articles to other directories and to my blog. It wasn't worth fighting them on it. I would much rather spend my time writing than arguing with EZA.

Chris Knight is protecting his property. I don't blame him a bit. It helps all of us in the long run if they get even more picky. There needs to be at least one directory with high standards.

I do agree with Zeus on this one. However, I must admit, it is frusterating to go through their bureaucracy.

In the long run this can be good to help weed out the spammers and make less competition for us.

General error could be one of a zillion things, but 9 out of 10 times, it's
        simple...

        They don't like your article...period.

It could be because it's too promotional or it has no value or it's on a topic
they no longer allowed or whatever.

Bottom line: 9 out of 10 times, general errors can't be fixed and you just
have to submit the article to another directory or put it up on your blog.

Along with John, I too have very little sympathy for people who complain
        about EZA's editorial policies.

Don't like 'em? Use somebody else.

I've submitted several hundred, the ones that have come up as problems I just deleted. They can be picky, but they're also half of my article marketing traffic. So it's well worth it for me at least

    Hi,

I used have this problem when I started submitting my article to them. Nowdays, my articles approve 24 hours time.

You just have to check again whether your content is related to the category or is it any value in there. Basically, this is the two main thing you have this problem.

Just to let you know, once I have an article rejected for a couple times until they ask me to email them. I did. I even ask them specifically where aand how should I correct the error. Took about a week or so they came back to me. I was able to corrcet the error and actually I learned a lot from there. Since then, I was to minimize my grammers mistake, and blah, blah, blah.

You just need to make mistake and learn from there. Hope this help.

PM me if you need anything else.

    Take care,bro.
