What is the easiest to use software to create these types of videos? Basic animated text effects, picture/video effects, adding music. I have Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum Pro 9, and I also have After Effects 7.0 Pro, are one of these the easiest or is there something easier?

I know Camtasia is another one, good for making videos of on-screen actions, but I'm thinking more for squeeze page information videos.

Every video editor has its own repertoire of text effects, CGCMarketing. With Sony Vegas, the interface is pretty daunting at first, but give it a few minutes. Try creating a video and you'll discover a plethora of wonderful stuff you can do with the texts you will input.

The After Effects series is, of course, the pinnacle of motion effects - not just for text but for images and videos as well. After effects treats everything - texts, still photos, video clips, and compositions - as footage, and can manipulate them similarly. The learning curve may seem intimidating... but based on my experience, it's a philosophy thing. Once you discover how the program wants you to think, everything will be smooth - NOT easy, mind you, but smooth.

An easier way to do stuff is by purchasing After Effects projects (their term for templates) from popular online marketplaces like www.Revostock.com and www.VideoHive.net . Replacing the "footage" of the templates is quite easy, and the results are always magnanimous.

Just make sure that the After Effects project is compatible with your version of Adobe After Effects as yours is 2 builds and 5 versions old.

That video was obviously made using Camtasia, and Camtasia is drop dead easy to use.

Another simple way to create videos if you have a Windows based sysytem, is to use MS' native Window Movie Maker which comes with your computer.

I have often found it useful to make a video in WMM first and then export into Camtasia to do the finishing touches as well as convert it from an AVI to a MPEG 4 format for the web.

WMM will allow you do create some animated text effects that are not native to Camtasia.

I guess it gets down to how "Hollywood" you want to get as there are quite a few video software options that are tailored for very specific effects.
