Really Bad Ideas that you laugh about now :)

I am going to make the assumption that everyone who is successful here has done some things that, while they thought they brilliant at the time, you look back, and not so brilliant!

I can recall quite a few projects I started that I thought would put me just millimeters from the first $1 million, and then they totally blew!

Here is one that I have kept online that my wife visits sometimes just so she can laugh at me. Sometimes I'll hear her laughing in front of the computer, and she is looking at this site.

At the time I thought I could capitalize on tax attorney and tax related keywords, and make a mint from adsense. Little did I know how much competition there was and may ideas for the site were not so brilliant!

At the time I had seen some really professional sites that made use of models of business people and everyday people, and I wanted to REALLY bring about this feeling of "everyday people mingling with tax experts". So I went out and bought some stock images, and the result was not so brilliant!

Here is what I came up with

Pretty aweful, huh?

Anyone want to share their not so brilliant stories?

Thank you for making me laugh. However, the truth is at least you did something which is better than all those naysayers out there

My stories of failure there are too many to share. But i guess I am thankful for every last one because they made me who I am today.

A failure is only an opportunity to succeed. (And actually with a little tweaking, that site could produce).

I have something like 120 sites, and I probably will go that road one day. Fortunately, I have some other sites that are doing well.

You are probably right. I may make it a mini-project for myself, but I'll have to save the original for my wife.

But you have got to have failures in order to learn and move onto success!! You cant succeed if you do not fail!
Absolutely, you have to try things. It took me a lot longer than I would have like to reach a moderate level of "success", but I did get there, and projects like this were part of the learning.

        Thanks for your replies.

When I was first starting I wrote a 15 page report that was AWFUL.

I put a load of links inside to Clickbank products.

When the report was finished I assumed that all the top marketers would simply send the report to their list. I made a list of all the marketers that I knew, estimated their list size, estimated the number of downloads they'd get me, and how many of those people would buy the products I recommend.

Needless to say no one went for it, so I resorted to spamming forums with my download link!

Glad to say I've grown up a LOT since then!

There's nothing bad in what you have done. You just need to put an extra work to improve on this to make it look professional.
