Page 2 on Bing, page 76 on google

Ok I'm not sure whats happening here.

Im listed on page 2 for a keyword ive been targeting for one week now. Its fairly competeive and has about 3k searches a day according to google keyword tool.

Within a week (give or take a day or two) I've made it to page 2 on Bing yet im not listed on google AT ALL for that keyword(adleast not in the first 76 pages I searched)

I've also tried Yahoo, and altavista and im not ranking on those SE's either....

my question is WHY

WHY can i rank so well on Bing for my keyword so quick and yet google wont give me the time of day?

Is this the "sandbox" everyone talks about? Why am I getting zilch from all other SE's yet Bing is giving me wonderful results?

any input/advice appreciated

Sandox is a myth .... But anyways ... Maybe google has more competition in it than bing. But hey if you got on page 2 of bing then great, now duplicate it over and over with other keywords and domains.

Yeah...let us know what sort of traffic you get from Bing, and hopefully they convert as well as I used to hear MSN did.

Sometimes it's easier to rank for a kw on bing or yahoo than on google.
Actually you could create seperate pages for the major search engines and try to match their criteria as close as possible.

I have the opposite effect. I am good ranking with google with page 2 and 3 rankings but havent even been indexed by bing nor yahoo. I have followed the steps by making webmaster accounts but no luck. Have been waiting for 4-5 months but no luck. With google i got indexed within a week.
lol. whats going on. :S my site: Antenna Installation Sydney | Allied Antennas | TV Aerial | Home Theatre

    Thanks

I'm confused. You're not ranking in Google, or you're not indexed in Google? If your URL is not showing up in Google (Just google the entire URL) then simply digg your site/page and then add your url using free google submit.

      I'm indexed but not ranking.

The first 3 or 4 pages of search results are VERY similar on google and bing the only difference is I'm only ranking well for Bing

Ah.. don't know. It's a mystery. I usually do better in Yahoo than Google a lot of times, but EVENTUALLY Google gets going.

Yeah you might say that.. HUGE Ron Paul supporter.

Check out his new video on "state of the republic". I wish everyone could hear that at least once.

My guess is you got a domain/keyword match which works well with Bing. On Google you'll need backlinks+time, similar thing with yahoo.

If the keyword in question is for medical or aging, you don't care about Google anyway. Bing converts much higher of the older (54-80) demographic as that is what they grew up on.

Yahoo converts better for the 45-55 demographic and the affluent.

Google has massive traffic, but remember, most disposable income is controlled by under 20% of the population, much of which does not use Google! If you are selling stuff with wide apeal or cheap, Google is a player. Otherwise it's 'power' to actually convert is questionable.

If you have a product or service over $25, track where the sales come from, in many niches even though most of the traffic comes from Google, the converting traffic comes from elsewhere.

High tech and a young demographic, then yes target your SE efforts to Google, but test your niche, you may be surprised. (Have had an adwords account with a CTR of 1.4% (which is low to me) and a 1% conversion to sale which at Bing had a 9+% CTR and 8% conversation. This is the thyroid field which is 60-80 yr old ladies for the main demographic & a $6,000 no insurance product with an 80% profit so even the Google traffic had a good ROI, but Bing blew them away.)

I think it just comes down to different algorithms. If the site is just a week old, it's most likely going to be bouncing around for a little a while, anyways. A week from now you may see it ranked higher in Google than in Bing.

Also, backlinks aren't treated the same between both search engines. A backlink from one particular site may mean a lot more to Google than Bing and vice versa. Each search engine just has different parameters.
