dot info or dot com results

Does anyone have real results showing that dot info isn't as good for ranking? I have heard various opposing viewpoints on this. One is that if you have a dot info site it won't rank as well or as quickly as a dot com, and the other opinion I have heard is that dot coms are beginning to be considered spammy and dot info is better.

I am looking at doing various sites, most of which are not really "company" sites, or businesses, but rather informative, like reviews or information blogs. I still hope to make money from them, just like a business, but the content is informative. It just seems to make sense to get domains with dot info in those cases, and also it is significantly cheaper.

Do any of you have positive/negative experience with dot info's?

thanks
margie

Many companies block .info such as Twitter .. So it really depends upon what you want to do.. The rankings have nothing to do with the ext of the domain name, your marketing efforts is the only thing that effects rankings...

I mostly use .info for my content sites that I monetize using adsense and also for those that i flip later, like ready made sites, and for my content sites that are running on .info are doing well in rankings too.

With Google's current terms of service they don't seem to mind in my experience. This could always change though in the future.

I would go with .com though, I just prefer them and like everyone else has said it's about quality content and quality backlinks, not the extension.

    Hope this helps.
