Link Building efficiency

A question for international internet marketers out there: Are incoming links from foreign language websites as effective as those exchanged among same language websites?

I own a few non-English sites, in rather competitive niches and I'm quite sceptical about outsourcing my link building to some of these English speaking services.

Does anyone know if language is an important factor when Google values incoming links?

The dilemma I'm facing is wether or not I should outsource the job and ignore the language of the links' origin, or do the job myself and hand select each and every link from a common language site.

Hmm, that is a good question, as far as I know, a link is a link no matter what the language of the site is, so long as it comes from a good "neighborhood" then its value counts.

That's what I think too. If only some warriors could verify it from experience...
