Ughh servers down because of Hackers - BS?

My three new websites are down for the second time today, with new promotions out there going down the drain. The hosting company said it was because of Hackers and could go on for days (until the hackers backed off of the server) Seriously???!!! Is this common or a line of BS...I have not been around the block enough to know the difference. They are telling me my sites could be down for a couple of days???

Is that why people get a dedicated server? Any help or insight would be helpful...I was really happy I was starting to make some regular and decent money and now this.....

Sounds like it, what host are you using? This doesn't happen with a reputable host.

They are but they are very different than most hosting companies. I would switch to hostgator as they have never done this to me, ever. Bluehost could be telling the truth however.

      That's a bummer.

Hackers can go after even huge fortune 500 companies and bring them to their knees. I have a dedicated tech team and an army of servers, but have still had sites go offline for periods of time because of this.

      Heck... even Google gets hacked!

Do a cpanel backup of your site and if it doesn't resolve soon move to a new host.

This is a smart one, I worked with two part-timers who told me more than they should have at the time, but they were small time which is why they wanted to brag.

This one is going to be a bit "hairier" but will pass in do time...just what I got. If anyone else has to share, please do as well.

Can't even get to the Cpanel at this point...its all down
Now I see why you only have a few sites on each server and use more than one host...how many sites does everyone usually have on one server?

No my Bluehost cpanel...it didn't load this morning and as with the sites themselves it will not load either.

Eshera, you mean you know who or "why" bluehost is being attacked....this hacker attack will be "hairer", not sure I understand your post, although that may be because it is past midnight here and I have been up for quite awhile. LOL

I had several sites hacked at openhost ... I meant bluehost and they were able to restore most of them with backups within minutes of contact. 2 sites however were toast and they were all on different servers!
