Selling a Blog

by 4 comments
I have gotten myself into too many projects, and some of them no longer can hold my interest. I've decided to sell one of my sites. It is a wordpress blog, that's been up since 2007. It has a forum with 27 members, that's not very active.

IT has top 20 rankings for almost 20 good keywords and gets decent traffic.

I have done some research on how to sell this site, and all the info I will need to be able to tell the buyer, but to tell you the truth I'm completely intimidated by the whole process.

Not sure what to price it at, or to maybe just put a discreet "this site for sale" button on the site itself.

Any thoughts/advice would be much appreciated.

The site is Natural Pregnancy Project if anyone wants to take a look.

If someone was willing to do all this stuff, and sell the site for me I would be willing to pay.

Yea, the process is intimidating to me too. I think you need to think about what you really need to make from it to feel good about the sale. Then you can be more confident about your negotiations.

    Look around at SitePoint Marketplace

This is a really good place for selling your blog. Do a little research about what kind of other sites are selling, what are the statistics and for what price.

    It's not hard at all

    Hi Jackie,

The is a good place to sell your site.
If you can post some monthly revenue and traffic figures that would be an added advantage.

Set a low minimum bid and a reserve which you feel is respectable, and a bin(buy it now) price at around 10-15 months revenue although this is not standard.

Emphasise your pr rankings and ease of maintenance and the growth potential. Offer to transfer the site and provide handholding email support for the new buyer for a month.

I dont see why you cannot pull this off. The first time is always diifficult

I agree, I should just jump in and do it. My main concern is this site does not make much money. Like a meager 10 bucks a month on adsense, but there is so much potential and I have done a lot of linkbuilding for it.

I'm sure it's going to go up in PR with the next go around bringing it to a 3 or 4, hmmm.

I just don't know what a good price is for it. I know what I'd like to get for it, but I'm not sure it's really worth that.

Thanks for your input, I have been looking around at the Sitepoint marketplace. I haven't seen other sites about similar topics so it's kind of hard to judge.
