I'd not only tell ebay, I'd inform paypal as well (if that's how you paid). They'll probably shut his account down. This kind of behaviour really gets to me. People like this don't realise that their actions can impact on other ebay sellers as people become wary of using ebay when this happens.

I'd inform their isp as well. Have a look at the header of their email, it should give you an IP address. then go here and enter it here. It should tell you who their isp is. Contact their isp and they will more than likely close the perpetrators internet account.

You should also contact the police with this information as well

I don't understand why people try this... what a waste of time to set it all up and then be shutdown.

If you would like a free (open source) alternative to Potoshop try Paint.NET [http://www.getpaint.net] it's very powerful, has layers and tons of great plug-ins. I use it for all my image editing.

I hate to admit this, but I use Paint.net for my image work also.

Not because I can't afford Photoshop (I actually own it) - but because its' too complicated for me to understand. It's also such a memory hog, I have to close everything else before I open it, or risk the big crash.

Regarding the OP's post - didn't someone else in WF also recently post about getting ripped off on Ebay with a similar product? Wonder if it's the same dude/gal?

Repoirt to ebay and file a paypal dispute is you get it with the paypal or call your CC company or bank and start chargeback process if you bought it by CC

These scammers are everywhere and need to be stopped to the best of our ability.

Forward the email he sent you to both Paypal and Ebay. This guy needs to be taught a lesson for selling pirated material.

I have photoshop 6,i was trying to use it with an ebook software from max ryski or something like that.
Anyway,couldnt do it,so i downloaded GIMP,its free,does everything photo does,and its only like a 1/3 of file size.
It has a help file online and in the software.

Report him to adobe too while you're at it... Man people will try anything to make a quick buck.

And definitely look to getting your money back right away by contact paypal or your credit card company.

Hi guys thanks for the help.

I have told ebay my situation but no response yet. I have canceled the transaction via PayPal and got my money back (Whew!)

I have also told Adobe and they contacted me requesting for more information so I will send them her emails.

Anyways anyone know a direct support email address from Ebay? I don't like going through the hoops just to find the form to email them.

Aljiro: Have you ever tried gimp? (GIMP - The GNU Image Manipulation Program) it does most everything photoshop does and it's free.

Ebay's rules are very clear, digital products are not allowed unless it's shipped as CD or DVD. Report this guy and file a dispute with paypal also.

GeekGranny: Why pay for MS Office, go for openoffice (OpenOffice.org - The Free and Open Productivity Suite) it has full functionality of MS Office and it's 100% free. You can also convert your documents to pdf with it. Much more reliable, too!

I have used it before and I like it but I just like Photoshop better

(Personal preference)

Open Office is excellent and have been using it for a while now.

It is worth noting that I have given Adobe the messages and files the seller gave me to aid in the case.

And I agree. It is scams like this that give ebay a bad name.

If he WAS using a keygen to make activation codes, that would be piracy. The proper transfer would be exactly as he described. He would call Adobe with the serial #, and his code and they would void his code and issue one for you.
Since you alerted Abode before he finished the transaction, I suspect you got him in trouble for trying to NOT do it illegally.

If you have bought software and received a keygen or been sent a code using one, 90% of the time it is pirated software. as often as it happens, I am not surprised you would think that was the legal way, but actually, all the software you bought before is actually the pirated software and he was legally transferring it from your description of events. (At least that would be the legal way to transfer a previously registered version.)

These scammers give everyone else a bad name. I would strongly suggest reporting it to Ebay, Adobe, the person's internet service provider and possibly your local law enforcement agency. Also contact Paypal or the company who handled the processing of your payment for a refund.
