PRESS RELEASES: Free, Paid or Both?

Hello,

I'm having a couple of press releases written. What are the best press release sites available? Obviously PRweb.com is a leader.

If you had to narrow it down to a couple of press release sites (free or paid) what do you suggest? I am willing to pay. It's just my time is more valuable and I don't want to open up accounts at various PR sites without knowing if it's worth it or not.

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

    Hi Dennis,

You should get in touch with fellow warrior Dana_W ... she knows her stuff when it comes to press releases.

Here is a post she made a little while back with some great PR submit resources:

I depends on whether your goal is for backlinks, or to get picked up by online news sites, or to get picked up by traditional and local news sources.

IMHO...http://www.prweb.com is the best paid bang for your buck. They have various plans that will get you backlinks and also potentionally get picked up by online journalists.

http:// www.express-press-release.net is relatively inexpensive and distributes to a long list of sites that target state-by-state websites.

As for free sites (great for backlinks), I like http://www.prlog.org the best. It has the widest online distribution to search engine news feeds, and is a PR 6, which creates nice backlinks from the copy that's posted on their site.

      Hope this helps

PR Web....is the only service I even bother with.

Being cheap and going free...is something I'd use as a last resort...because much like the cliche goes....you really do get what you pay for....or what you are too cheap not to pay for.

And if your product or service can benefit from print media...I'd advise you to go for the whole baby....and cough up the bucks for it.

The amount of money generated in terms of free press can easily be worth more money then the chump change required to generate it....and just remember to make your release NEWS WORTHY.

90% of the press releases I see....are selfish, me centered advertorials that focus on YOU and YOUR product.....while forgetting what a press release is.

Hint: it's a document that should be NEWS WORTHY.

One of the best tips I can give anyone is to tie their product or service into some hot news of the day.

Hijack celebrity news...and spin your new rehab center next time some child actor gets popped at the airport with a gram of black tar heroin.

Hijack the so-called "bad economy" by soft selling your sure fire way to beat the markets etc.

YOUR focus should never be on YOU. Nobody cares. You should just soft sell your "venture"....and focus on what the media really cares about.

Cuz those are the stories that get "picked up".

Do it right and the media can and will make you famous. The result is massive leverage that creates an influx of new buyers with MONEY TO SPEND.

      Best of luck.
