Ecourse or Ebook - Refund difference?

Hello, Warriors!

I am developing a series of products. I have 2 choices - ebooks or ecourses (short ecourses - about 10-14 days).

I am leaning towards ecourses, because I really like the idea of giving small steps for them to take and then answering questions along the way vs. giving the info all at once and they might get overwhelmed. :confused:

The product I am testing right now is an ecourse. I have gotten very positive feedback, but the group is small (10 people) who already know me and like me.

I think the ecourse approach is a more personal approach.

I also think I could ask a higher price for an ecourse since there would be email support from me during the course and beyond.

I would also think that an ecourse would have a lower refund rate, especially from scammers that ask for a refund immediately after buying and downloading the product.

Any thoughts or experience in this area? All suggestions - pro and con - would be appreciated.

    I would definately go with the ecourse. You can charge a much higher price, and it's more unique than simply an ebook.

      I'd have to agree with you on the more personal approach thought.

      Plus, with an ecourse you are collecting more email.

      Downside is that even though you might not get as many refunds, there's is a Slight chance you get less sales since there are lazy, desperate people that would actually get discouraged of buying the ecourse since they'd have to wait days to get the whole thing.

        Yep, I thought about that. But I think those people would also be the type to buy an ebook, never take action and then ask for a refund.

        In the sales letter, I will emphasize the personal help and also the step-by-step approach for the ecourse as selling points.

    I also prefer the ecourse method. You could offer a couple of
    different versions - perhaps offer the two-week course for one
    price and give the option of a three-day "crash" course priced
    higher but with more intensive training and support.

        Let's say I wanna do a ecourse about traffic generation would the best way to it be to write or find articles about different methods of generating traffic and then email one article a day or how would you guys do it?

          I am no expert, but the way I am writing mine is to have a certain goal in 14 days - then giving one step each day they need to take in order to get the desired results at the end of 14 days.

            I thought you are supposed to be asleep by now. LOL.

            Why not ask your list? Do a survey how many like ebook or ecourse? And give them a range of prices they are willing to pay for. =)

    Forget about the refund, they will always be there, unless you use some software to protect it.

    Just concentrate on creating a good product, be it e-book or e-course. You still create e-book that reveals interesting content and grap your customers attention, then up sell them with a complete and full courses that provides even more good content, use your powerful sales letter to draw them to your e-course!

    Ecourse biz has done pretty well for me. I run an online pilot ground school at www.faa-ground-school.com. Feel free to rummage around and see if it gives you any ideas.

    On the other hand, an ebook is likely a lot easier to develop than an ecourse. People expect audio/video in an ecourse and an ebook is generally just text.
