Product Reviews?

For those of you out there who create your own products, what do you do to get buyers to write a review? What do you do to encourage them to do so?

I know you can give out review copies, but I also want to be fair to those on the WF that have purchased my product for full price. Suggestions?

    I'm not in the "info product" niche, I own a specialty retail shop... but what I did is have some custom programming done to my shopping cart. Once a product in an orderline has been marked as shipped, and email automatically goes out to the customer asking for a product review. The email thanks them for their purchase, includes a photo of the product, date purchased and a big "review now' button. Basically, just what amazon does......

    I get a decent amount of reviews this way (without even offering anything in return). I also put a note in the email to send and photos they have with our products, and that works. Soon, I plan to include a line to submit video reviews of our products and may run a contest for those...

    Depends, as there are many options... Consider the following...

    1. Creating a free survey on a site and email your customers asking them to fill it out. On there you can get the info you need for a review. You can also add in a prize drawing for participating to increase the responses you get.

    2. Post on a niche related forum like Warrior Forum for example and offer a few people a free "review" copy which they can have provided they give you a usable testimonial/review for it.

    3. Email your clients as a follow up making sure they are happy with the product, and ask for their opinions on it.

    4. Make sure you've mentioned in your product and on your website where people can leave testimonials... in time you will receive some.
