Domain Name Suggestion

I need your help again. I am making a new website, let's say site is about weight loss. I have narrowed down my domain name search to these two domain names:

HowToLoseWeight(Dot)com (not exact domain name)
LoseWeight(Dot)xx (xx = two letters country domain name)

Which domain name would do better in search engines? Does country domain names get good rankings in google? Do they just work like dot com name?

Thanks for your help.

If you're going to heavily rely on search traffic, use a .com, .net or .org only. Country domaind will rarely make it to the front page of Google unless it is aged and/or has a reputation of another kind, like thousands of established backlinks and natural traffic etc.

I would personally stick to a .com as people have a perception that it's safer than some of the other unfamiliar country domain names.

If you were targeting ONLY the demographic that exists in that area, (your .xx extension) then it may not be too bad an idea; but like Gene said above,

you're better of with a .com, .net or .org because you would have to have a ton of backlinks and crazy on-site seo to compensate. (IMO)

.com should always be your first choice for SEO-reliant domains.

yep .com is the way to go
I've been able to get top rankikngs with .info for lower comp keywords but have far more clicks with .com

I'd go with the "howtoloseweight.com" variety. A primary keyword is in the domain, and this is the type of stuff that gets powerful traffic if you hustle it correctly.

What I would do is first is to determine how much competition is for your keywords and is it even possible to rank on the first page of the search engines for those keywords. Or is it possible to change your keyword just a bit and have a less competition? Then just make sure your keywords are in the URL.

As a consumer, I think of ".com" as the "first" domain, and thus I am more likely to think of a site with a ".com" domain as more likely to be established, and less likely to be fly-by-night.

forget about .us .ca... go with dotcom.. then if your customers are all in that country... it may work too
