How The Hell Do You Use Twitter?

Ok I took the plunge today and joined twitter.

So now I'm a bit perplexed....

I made "2 tweets" on my profile. I see other tweets showing up on my profile from people I'm following.

So my big question is how do I get my tweets to show up on other peoples profile pages?

I was under the assumption that at least my tweets would show up from the people who are following me.

I guess not because I don't see them.

I also don't see my tweets showing up on the peoples pages I'm following either.

So how the hell do I get my tweets to show up on other profiles??

Better yet, how are other peoples tweets showing up on my account but I'm not showing on theirs?

okay, end of twitter rant....

Frank Bruno

P.S- I would show you my twitter account username but I would just be giving away free traffic to those posts on my account until I figure this out.

Your tweets will only show up on their profile if they are following you. Are you sure you're just not missing your tweets? Some profiles can have so many that it's easy to miss some.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

I looked but do not see them showing up. I only made 2 tweets and then went to the people who are following me and did not see my tweets showing up on their profiles.

      I'm stumped.

Is there some sort of delay, or approval process for each tweet? or do I need to logout and log back in to twitter see them?

I just did a test. Here's what I think. When you look at somone else's profile you are not seeing what they would see if they logged in. Only they will see all the tweets from those they are following.

That is so funny! Is THAT what twitter is all about? Tweets? Tweet! tweet!

Seriously though... I signed up for an account and was stumped on the very first page. "What the heck do you do with this?" I wondered. Haven't been back since, however, I have clicked on other people's Twitter links and seen only meagre content... like, perhaps a cartoon with the one-line message above.

I'm still puzzled. Guess I need to go over there and read the instructions.

      Scott is right.

When you are looking at someone else's profile, the only thing you are seeing is the tweets that person makes.

You will see on your home page all the tweets from yourself and the ones you are following. It is the same on everyone's.

If you click on the tab at the top of your page that says 'Profile' you will see what everyone else sees when they come to your profile page. You will notice it is only your tweets, no one else's.

That is why you can't see your tweets on someone else's page.:p

We can do a test Frank. I'll follow you and you tweet., then I'll tell you what I see and you can look at my profile and see if you see your tweet.

    Frank, I just PMed you.

Tweets are instant. But if you are following someone...and they are not following you...they don't see what you are Tweeting, if that's what you are asking.

What they WILL see is if you reply to a Tweet they made. Hover your cursor over the box where they just Tweeted...you will see a little gray arrow in the lower left, which is the reply arrow...hit the arrow...and then type in a reply to them.

Twitter does take some getting used to, I know. I actually thought it was really stupid when I first signed on, but I saw so many people raving about it that I persisted, and I'm glad i did, because I get GREAT clients from ther.e

I've honestly found that some work better than others...so far, I get the most out of Twitter and the Warrior Forum. I joined Plurk and Pownce and Friendfeed and Brightkite, and I don't get as much out of them as I do from Twitter.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get Twitter.

I've looked at a lot of different pages, including some people here on the WF, trying to figure out why it's so popular and they are the most boring bits of jibberish I've ever seen -- when they're not the most confusing bits of mish-mash posts I've ever seen.

I just don't see the appeal. I especially don't see the attraction of posting so often, as some do. Why be tied to a computer? Heck, I work when I have to and don't even think about my computer when I'm not working.

(Yeah, I know some post from their phones -- I don't. I don't text message either. I don't take photos. I don't surf the web. I make calls ... period!)

Frankly, I don't want people following my every move. I can't see who would.

        I guess I'm just a 40-something that doesn't get it.

        Cheers,
        Ram

You can talk about what you are doing or creating or working on for a client, and people may buy from you or order services from you. It works amazingly well for me. Then again, I enjoy socializing and chit-chat.

Ram....... The problem is your 40 something, when I turned 50 it all became clear

All joking apart, I just didn't get twitter either.

I don't know why others use it, and i must admit it took me a while to work it out, and how useful it is

Since using it myself I get traffic directed to my blogs and websites everyday.

I just didn't know why people where just submitting messages all the time, until i realised it starts to bring a good amount of traffic, which can in turn bring in subscribers and sales.

Then I worked out a way to fully automate the process.

Now I run at least 3 automatic messages a day, have got them already prepared for the next 48 days, plus any specials I add on the way, and this get's me over 30 new followers a day, all potentional customers. and masses of traffic.

Also, everytime I update my blog, it gets sent to twitter automatically

So for me, it's all about getting more traffic............ And it works really well!

BTW - Dana, I like the pic as well !

I also joned twitter only recently and it took
me some time to understand how it all works.

It can be useful and interesting.

If you follow Willie Crawford as an example
you will see how an internet marketer uses
this site in a very business oriented way.

Till now I just used it to notify of new posts
on my blog, and with a small number of people
following me I notices some traffic arriving
                      from there.

Now I am following also you Frank, and noticed
an almost instant follow from you.

                      See you on twitter too...
