Non skip capable video... bad for business?

I noticed that, lately, a lot of internet marketers are using non skip video. I like videos because i usually deduce a couple of things or get at least one new idea and if the product is good it is easier to connect to it with a video.

But i have found that i close the non skip videos a lot more that the other one. I receive and email last night about a video about a free source code and resell rights....a lot of you must have received the same one.

Anyway....after watching the first few minutes of him talking about his vacations and his wife's paintings i was put to sleep and turned it off.

Might sound a little harsh but i don't give a rat's ass about his wife and painting...i want to see what he has to offer me and my business.

I understand the need for personal connections and it is fine. But had i been able to skip to the interesting parts i would have finish watching the video...but i wasn't allowed to and now i don't really care any longer about his offer.

Just my 2c

    I agree with this totally

The trouble is that marketers are always in a marketing "state" and they forget that their potential customers are impatient human beings waiting for the "money" info.

Just to help you out - my wife is colour blind and has no paintings so you will never get that line with me

Hate it too. Yesterday I received an IM product presentation on video through a guru marketer's recommendation. The product presentation was 30 minutes long and the speaker says the price on the last slide.

Really? I just closed the tab.

You hit the key right there. The video better be fascinating every moment of the way, because as soon as my mind starts wandering I'll close the page and move on to something else. If I could skip ahead, I would at least try that once or twice to see if it got better. Without that option, see ya!

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

If there are no controls I do not even wait to see if it is good or not I just close the tab and move on. Personally I think it is extremely rude to expect someone to just sit and watch a video that they have no control over and seriously who has the time for that. I know I do not. I am supposed to spend 10,30,45 mins watching a sales pitch when I have no idea if it is even something I would be interested in buying??

Not sure who they are marketing to but it is not anyone that is busy that is for sure.

I agree. I've seen numerous gurus do this for looooong videos. I don't know why they do it, when everyone I see says that they hate it.

Hopefully, they have at least split tested it and found that it converts better.
