So many IM blogs but where's all the comments?

Hey guys,

been surfing around over the last couple weeks
and checkin out other IM'ers blogs and one thing
I notice is that most are getting traffic but where
the hell is all the interactivity, you know comments
feedback?

I would sure love to get others feedback on this
and you can give a a few ideas on how one can go
about getting visitors to leave comments..

Any ideas how?

Hi David,

One good way is to open a debate in your blog post.

Like: - "What is the best article directory?" and then at the bottom of the post ask people to leave a comment with their thoughts.

The more controversial the question, the better!

I've seen some awesome IM blogs that have really
awesome topics which should spark a debate but
they don't and this is another observation even
top blogs outside the IM niche have this same issue.

So the question is how to get more people commenting
and leaving feedback beside the engaging article?

You make a good point. I run a reasonably popular forex blog but get very few people actually commenting on any of my posts. I know they're reading them and I think they enjoy them judging by the feedback I receive via email, but comments are extremely rare, and it's the same with many other forex blogs that I visit.

Roger, I do get what you're say and I've seen site
with all these tools that still don't spark any conversation
even with the WIIFM aspect.

What other ways can we get our visitors to leave comment

It needs to be worth their time to leave the comment. If they have to register on the site just to leave a comment most of the time they will just skip it because it takes too long. If the won't be able to throw their website link into the comment they will probably skip it too.

WIIFM would be another chance to have your signature seen.

Seriously though, I have asked a few quesitons today on the forum, one about fonts and one about printing within the forum and neither one has even had a view or reply.

People really subscribe in the WIIFM theory and it makes me irate that I help out as much as I can and when I need help the well is dry...not always but lately.

I've started and what this comment about signature seen?

If you have ask a question and other members haven't
replied to it well they might not be able to help or the
people that can help are not on the forum at the moment.
