Hi everyone!

I ping my blog and squidoo posts - can you also ping every article you submit to Article Directories?

Thx in advance!

Yes Terri, you should ping your articles, your article RSS feeds and any other content you've published. In the event there's no built in RSS feed, you can create one using FeedAge.com's free HTML 2 RSS tool => Feedage.com - Convert HTML 2 RSS.

I create quality online content at Squidoo, and Yahoo! Contributor Network to inform, to have fun and make some money at it along the way :)

I don't care for blogs. Sorry, I realize this is a wordpress forum! I do my own rss.xml sheets on xhtml sites. (See wimpy little bottom sig site for an example.) With these it is really easy to post anything you want on it. If you can get at the source code of your feed you should be able to make fine adjustments (maybe even sledge hammer and monkey wrench adjustments.) And get it doing what you want maybe?

There is a lot less to xml than there is to html. I do plan to put up a page about that (and ping it!)

Every time you add a post to it that is just what pinging is for. You should ping it. A couple of people have mentioned they have had bad experiences pinging their feed when they haven't added anything to it. I wouldn't even have thought of doing that and it doesn't sound like a good idea.

In my rss feed I would just add the article to it, link it back to the article directory for the individual post link, and then ping it.

    best wishes, lloyd

You can ping anything, it simply says to the search engines "look here."

The best way is to get the RSS feed from your author profile and submit that everywhere. What you do next is to ping the feeds and when the search engines look at the profile, it contains links to everything you have written.

In general ping everything but only when there is new content.

You should always ping your articles via the article url. It will increase the chances of your article getting attention from the search engines when normally a lot of them never really get recognized. Also, the main purpose of this is to increase the attention to your contextual backlinks within the article.
