Hi, I have heard that there are some people who love to domain park on popular/common keywords. Yet I have also heard that it is not effective at all. Any comments on how successful/feasible domain parking is? So if I were park a domain what should my strategy be? |

Your strategy should be to get domain names that already has descent amount of traffic. If you where to park a brand new domain name, does not matter how popular or how many keywords are in it, it would not make any money at all. Once you have a domain name that has lot of traffic coming in from its previous life, you should find out where the traffic is coming from and what sort of website it used to be before, then you can do the keyword research to get relevant ads on there. And even if you get the ads on there what people looking for, the traffic still will fade away over time. To really make money with domain parking you should get a one word, well linked, easy to type in domain name but names like that will cost astronomical amounts. |

There are specific strategies that make it effective for flipping the domains, but just sitting on them won't really make you any money.

Thanks for that question. I had often wondered about parking myself, but had never thought to ask. It seemed like a bit of a pointless strategy to me.

Over time it would probably be better paying someone to design an entire website for you and fully load it up with goodies and everything it needs, more than likely it will cost you around $200 from a reputed designer but it will be far more likely someone will better respond to your page than if they see a load of links and nothing else. I know if I see a page stuffed with nothing but links I will not touch it, I do not know where they may lead. And that is what many other visitors will be thinking. I have considered the possibilities of parking too but it just is not worth it with the problems it can pose. |

Much better to develop the site rather than have it parked.

Yes there's a site that archives sites. Sometimes a site won't be included because they restricted it being crawled in their robots.txt. But most of the time you'll see some results for a site. Just go to Internet Archive and use their wayback machine..I think it's called. You can usually see what the site used to be from many years ago. Very helpful tool for this..and the only one I know that exists. |

| I have been using domaintools.com it gives you a pretty good information. You have to become a member to get most details information. If you do Google search you can find many sites with a similar purpose, some of them are free and some of them are not. If you buy a domain from SEDO or some other selling/auction site they already give you most of the information needed or you can contact the owner of the domain. If it is a really expensive domain you should get domain name appraisal for that, but be aware there is lot of scammers out there selling domains or doing appraisals.

The people making money parking have great names (i.e., high value) that get a lot of type-in traffic. And they have thousands of names generating revenue. I park the domain names I own that I haven't had time to do develop yet because they do generate SOME revenue - better than nothing. However, I make more if I build a mini site and do SEO to generate traffic.

Yes I have over 700 domain names but only park half of them. They don't pull in much $$$. I am going the route I think of Monetizing them with minisites. I just need to find the TIME |
