Social Media for Offline Clients...

Question for any offliners offering social media services to offline clients:

Are you just setting up the Facebook account, blog, etc for these clients or are you the one actually doing the blogging etc for them?

For someone to do the job properly, there needs to be an ongoing maintenance contract in place. Usually the blogging is best done by an employee of the business. But a social media manager should be monitoring the global conversation surrounding the off-line businesses brand. Additionally they should be monitoring related brands and interacting with customers who may be about to make a purchase.

I do both the setup and posting for a 3 to 6 month period to get some momentum. When I was just doing set up what I'd find is clients would come back and ask if I could manage it for them because they didn't have the time. But I work with small to medium sized businesses.

I'm looking more at small to medium sized clients.

Shelly- It sounds like a good strategy- set up the accounts and let them handle it, then they find that it's too much work and hand it off to you...
