If your hosting account has Cpanel it should come with webalizer and awstats included. In fact I think most hosting packages give you some form of stats.

Yes, you can use a few free services out there. Statcounter.com and Google analytics. You just have to put the code in your website or blog and it will start tracking your stats.

I've used http://www.extremetracking.com exclusively for years now, and it is an EXCELLENT tool (and also FREE). It provides you with tons of useful statistics: IP address, geographical location, browser type, keywords used, busiest day of the week and month, busiest time of day, and loads more. With the free version, you have to place a little graphic at the bottom of your page, so anyone can click on it and see your stats. The pro version, on the other hand, requires no such graphic.

Check out Site Meter..its what I use on one of my sites. Its great tells me how many per day week, hour. What country there comming from, everything. Plus its free, cant beat that!
