Google sucks...one newbies opinion.

Ok here is the story...

I built a regional information site (long before I found WF) and to try to monetize it somewhat I joined Adsense.

Cool idea I thought so I gave it a try.

Well I was telling some people about it at a place I was working and a few of them jumped on to explore it and give me some feedback.

Along the way a few of them banged the adsense ads pretty hard (I think it was 5-10 clicks per day for a week or two time frame), and suddenly Google, in all their self-imposed wisdom shut me down.

I responded, explained the situation and no response. I waited four months and reapplied, denied!

Has anyone taken on Google with any success?

Should I get an account in a buddy's name at his address?

What are my options?

I doubt a different name and address will matter.

It's not like they don't know the url of the site.

Thats OK. I have a number of other, yet un-built domains that would work well with the adsense model.

Other than the tax implications for my buddy I guess.

Explore your options, there are a multitude of monetization choices.

        Adsense is just one option.

        Good luck!

I am sorry to say so but your reapplication is going to be very hard. Because people clicking too much from a traffic source like that, doesn't seem natural or average to them. Some people wait for years and still cannot reapply.

Using friends data might work. But long term it's complicated.. You better clear the cookies and change the IP address as well.

I guess the only legal solution is to open a company and apply for an Adsense account at companies name.

If you think Google sucks, why would you want another account with them?

    Hi pmgguy,

When I was making a couple of hundred dollars a month with adwords I was in constant anxiety over what would happen if they shut me down. They never shut me down, I shut them down. It's not worth it to me to let someone else have such control over my living.

I know there are a LOT of Warriors and others making tons of money with adwords so I'm not putting the program down, just saying how I "felt" and it wasn't worth it to me.

Having said that. It makes more sense to me to have the same type of pages that draw people and have look alike ads (google) that lead to low to high paying sales of your own products or Click Bank products.

One sale could equal many times 100 adsense click throughs.

    Just a thought,

The real story is that you told your friends that when someone clicked on the ads you made money.

It's called "click fraud" because the 500 or more clicks your friends did were to help you - not because of interest in the ads that are paid for by advertisers.

Google saw a new adsense account - with lots of clicks from one geographical area - and knew exactly what was happening. Google IS the search engine - and much smarter than the average marketer.

Much better to move on and find some other way to monetize the site.

Great point! This whole IM thing is about focus, I just need to RE-focus!

      Thanks George!

This is a two cents worth. Due to the deliberate clicking pattern, Google would have considered you cheating. Reapplying is impossible, as they would have tracked your address, cheque or bank account.

Google has a really strong algorithim and they have said that they are the final judges.

The only way is by other means of internet marketing to monetise.

Or unconventional method is to use your family member's account and make sure that deliberate clicking would not happen again.

I have a friend who just had this happen to her.

Google pulled her Adsense ads after what they called "suspicious clicking pattens".....She did nothing wrong on her own. BUT, she suspects a competitor (who's harassed her before) just starting clicking alot to cause her problems

Personally I think there's more revenue opportunities with affiliate links on your site than adsense.
