Default Brad Gosse has got me thinking about the Ipad launch.

Hi Guys

I just thought I would share with you what my coach, mate and mentor has said about lessons we can learn from Apples product launches. Well worth a watch guys. Check it out here:

It got me thinking, there is a great deal to be learnt from the way Apple does things, if we can emulate a little of how they do launches we can earn and learn guys..

Has any one else got any thoughts on this ?

BTW if any one else is going to Mark Anastasi's Master List Build Seminar in London this weekend and wants to meet up catch me on twitter @marklyford and lets have a beer or two..

The most brilliant thing they do is make it unfashionable to copy their launch process. Google tried it and it came off as stupid, that's something interesting about Apple launches.

Hey Andrew - could you elaborate on that thought? I'm not familiar. And I am interested.

+ Mobile Game Design Template -- When you're going to create a mobile game, you need a well thought out and structured Game Design Document. This makes it simple.

Sure. Google tried doing a pre-launch hype builder for their very uninteresting phone (at least in my opinion) by announcing an announcement (which is what Apple does as we all know) and it just came off as weird.

I'm sure it worked for their target audience but it didn't for the countless millions of people who own iPhones. The point is this: if you try to imitate anything Apple does it weakens YOUR brand and makes you look silly, at least to a large chunk of the population. Again this is just my opinion.

That being said, imagine another mobile company or computer company announcing an announcement for a new product, keeping it completely secret from start to finish and announcing it to a huge, anxious crowd. If it even worked, it'd still seem like a huge copy cat move which as a result would make it less effective and lame.

However the basic building blocks are still there... there's still a lot to take away from their launch. They keep the details secret, it happens all at once, there's scarcity, anticipation, etc. etc. There's still a lot to learn but in a lot of ways you just can't copy what Apple does.

Have you noticed though that the IM industry hits the viewer with the biggest sales point first, where apple build you up to it ? they dont mention the price for over an hour in the presentation ...

Apple does the same thing that the IMers do.

With every product they launch, they use the 'This is the greatest thing on earth' line...

A few years later the next product comes out and it's 'No Really...THIS is the greatest thing on earth'...

A few more years go by...and guess what...Im not typing it again.

I think we can certainly all learn something from the way they launched the product.

However I think they missed the ball with the name. Which sounds too much like a feminine product. And I also think they will have a very narrow audience for this device.

So far the only thing I can see it being good for is an oversized remote for my Apple TV.

The reason this works for Apple is that they have a cult like following, people who get excited. Google does not have that, so they are not able to pull it off yet.

I saw the Nexus and I thought it was pretty cool, I have used a G1 for about 16 months now...

Wow, never herd Brad not be sold on Apple.

I was thinking of getting it, just as a intro to Apple products, but then I remembers what they do each time.

Release it at $499+

In 2 months the price will drop down and bugs be taken out.....

I guess that is part of the process.

Cheers,
Mukul

I for one thought it was a feminine product. My only thought was 'Where else will they get to go on line? Ipenis?'

I agree the name is a fail. It's just weird. I think if the product takes off, the name will feel normal. iPod felt stupid to me early on.

I actually feel this will become a big item. I already am picturing running a powerpoint on it with a potential client while sitting in Starbucks. With bluetooth, should be able to use a remote for it. Put that puppy in the clients hands and voila. It just makes a lot of sense to me from a face to face business standpoint.

But as far as carrying it around with me - I like my iPhone size.

This I feel will replace Netbooks tho. It's ease of use, the amount of "apps" for it in a years time? Yeah, this is going to be big.

That's because you are my hero and I told Bill Glazer I needed my pic with DK's no BS girls so I could be like you when I grew up! Needless to say he agreed! (Although you can't read their shirts, they do have the 'No BS' with the international 'NO' sign over the words.

(Actually they are GoDaddy girls on loan to Dan... but hey, any port in a storm.)
