I just wanted some ideas to make my blog more appealing.

I have the "balance of blue" free wp theme on my blog.
I wanted to put a few stock photos on my posts, but could not find anything free which would match my niche.

Any ideas how I could "beautify" my blog,if that makes sense?

Also, do you use a static page as your first page when someone comes to your blog,or do your latest posts come first.

I dont have a static page yet,my latest posts come first.

I am not sure if I should have a static post to just tell about the blog and then let the visitor click where he wants to?

I also wanted to ask,how do you monotize your blogs.I know adsense and your affiliate offers would be the main ways, but when I put my affiliate product ad on my blog,I did not get even one click to it.

So does it make any sense to put the affiliate product ad?

Hope someone can help me

  • Spend some time finding a template you like them populate it. That's it. If you don't like what you have try something else.

No one can really do that for you.

There is no rule for that.

It always depends on the setup and the purpose of your blog.

If it is just a blog (i.e. regularly updated posts) - I'd say leave it as it is.

Some people are putting a squeeze page or a sales page on a 'static page'. But don't make your "about" page as a front.

I believe a static page on a blog can be very useful depending on how you decide to monetize your blog. A good idea is to check out other blogs in your niche to get ideas on how to position your information.

If you don't have a static page on your blog, I usually recommend monetizing each post with an opt in field at the bottom or a link to your opt in page or sales page.

To increase your click conversions for adsense or a product on your page focus on two things...good content and quality traffic.

Start with an attractive template. Then customize and search for plugins to add bells and whistles to your blog.
