Dumb newbie question about Wordpress

Hey everyone,

I have what probably is a dumb question. On my Wordpress blog, I am trying to figure out how in the world I can put video on it without just the link. Like I want to put a video from YouTube on there that can be watched from the blog...not having to follow the link.

Is there a plugin I need to use? The text editor just gives you the option for a link as far as I can see. I would really appreciate it if someone could help me on this! Thanks ahead of time!

Just grab the code from YT and then stick it in your HTLM editor. You'll find this in your New Page/Post area.

    That's it!

Oh, just make to adjust the size before you grab the code. It will have to fit the width of your content area.

    Hi,

There is a Wordpress plugin called Smart-Youtube that is very easy to use.
I don't have a link but I'm sure if you google it you will find it.

Hey! This isn't a dumb question at all, I'm not very technical and it took me forever to figure out all of these things in Wordpress. And please excuse the fact that my explanation might not be very technically correct......

To include a YouTube Video you:
    1. open the youtube page with the video you want and to the right of that video there are 2 text boxes with html code, one says URL the other says Embed. You want to copy the code in the Embed box.
    2. Then login to your wordpress site and open the post you want to put the video in.
    3. Click the cursor to where you want the video
    4. In the top right hand corner of the post box there are 2 grey buttons one says Visual the other says HTML, click on HTML
    5. Then paste (CTRL + V) the code you copied from YouTube, go back to Visual and your video should be there
To include a video saved on your computer you"
    1. open your wordpress post and underneath where you write the title there's something that says Upload/Insert followed by 4 little grey buttons
    2. The first button is to add an image the second is to add a video
    3. Then just upload the video and insert into post and you're done
    Hope this helped!
