Which term appeals to you - Residual income or Passive income ?

I would just like some feedback on which term would
attract you most as an affiliate - Residual income or
Passive income.

They should convey to you the idea of a product that you
sell once and which earns you further payments such as
monthly commissions. Please let me know if that is not
the case.

Thanks
Harvey

I think residual income describes it better. It's more precise.

    Residual income.

For some reason I think RESIDUAL income is a more main-stream term, you always hear it. The perception of PASSIVE income is not at the same level among the masses, in my opinion and experience anyway.

    Residual income, as an affiliate

    Passive income, as a buyer

    Recurring commissions, as a layman.

    Kindest regards,
    Karl.

I think residual income is a more honest description.
Passive income suggest that you do 'nothing' to earn your crust :-)

I would agree with this and also I don't think it
      conveys the recurring aspect.

      So I will use 'residual'

      Thanks Warriors for your help

Residual means "left over" to me.

Anyway, I think you may have answered your own questoin with a 3rd option that you used in your reply...

What's wrong with saying "recurring" income or commission???

Hey Harvey, I tend to prefer Passive Income. It seems to be a term I am starting to hear more and more. It is also big in a lot of network marketing systems, because their main goal is to eventually have a passive income.

So you may be able to tap into the market of people who are not happy with network maketing and may want to try what you have to offer...

    Good luck with it..

As an affiliate, I'd prefer the residual income term, because it conveys more precisely what you're intending to say, i.e. do the work once and then get recurring income down the line without any further effort on your part. Passive income is not as accurate, because you do have to *work* in the beginning to get the income stream set up.

I always use the term passive income. It will be interesting to see the term other Warriors use and if it has anything to do with where they come from.

Residual if you want to imply there is at least a little work involved.
    Passive if you don't :-)

    Having read
Passive income - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The IRS definition of 'Passive Income' is:
"passive income as income from "trade or business activities in which you do not materially participate"
Therefore I think 'Residual Income' is best description

    Hi,

Residual for me. Because I have a few musician friends who talk about their "residuals" that come in from things they did 30+ years ago. They never say Passive. So I'd like to tell them about my residuals too.

I agree when given the choices of passive and residual.

Passive is a word you use when you want to see an opportunity seeker's eyes light up. Residual is a word you use when talking to a person that runs a business.

Residual - work comes to mind and hopefuly dreams in the end.

Passive - less work but only comes around ever so often.

    I want:

Recurring Passive Income - at least it doesn't sound like I'm working my a$$ off non-stop for a dream down the road. I love those set-n-go systems.

I think it depends on your market. I doubt the average

I like them both as long as the checks keep coming.

How about recurring, residual, passive, ongoing income forever? I like that.
