Another dumb question...

Hey everyone,

Sorry about this, and I am sure this question is going to be stupid to some people, but I need to ask it anyway because I am not sure. Which is the better business model...Product creation or CPA? Maybe doing both is the best way to go. I am trying to change a few things and am wanting to know what would be the best route to go. I realize that nobody here can tell me exactly what to do, but I would like opinions and pros and cons. I really appreciate this! Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

Not dumb at all. It's a good question.

You will get different answers from different people. Personally I prefer info product creation. My reason is probably not a good "business," reason but it fits me and my wants.

You see I have to have instant cash. I'd rather make $100 today and every day than twice that and have to wait on someone to pay me.

It's a "sickness" I caught early on when I did "odd jobs," for people. Hey kid paint the fence and I'll give you a dollar. Fence painted, dollar received.

Then when I was a carpet cleaner for 20 years or so, I'd finish the days work and collect the days money.

I hate to wait for my money. I sell an info product via paypal and bam it's on my paypal debit card.

I've started a meal with enough on my card to pay for the meal and by the last cup of coffee enough came in to my PayPal account to buy dessert and leave a tip. LOL

Product creation, in my opinion, is the best way. You already have some knowledge of your niche and have an idea of what you want to do, such as writing an ebook.

On the other hand, you'll need more time to master CPA if you're not already familiar with it. And even if you are, you're probably taking greater risks in terms of expense and time that may or may not pay off.

Best thing is to go with what you know first. You can always learn whatever you need to learn later.

I am currently doing cpa but out of the two my favorite is definitely product creation. In my opinion creating your own products gives you the freedom to scale it as much as you want. I find it alot easier to view my own products/services as a business than I do something like affiliate marketing (no disrespect intended). ALso like George Wright said, I find it really hard to wait for my money. If I make $1000 dollars in sales I want to receive that money as soon as possible in order to reinvest and have my business grow. Rather than making $1000 in sales and waiting to receive my money that can sometime take up to a month after the end of the payment period. Thats two whole months of not having that money which means my business grows MUCH slower or I have to come up with the money using other methods.

CPA is great for a method of monetizing websites and such, however I do not like to use it as my main source of income.

It's not a stupid question at all. I think the best answer depends on what your talents are. For me, nothing is better than product creation. I love the process and the end results give me a sense of accomplishment. Watching the money pour in doesn't hurt either.

Plus, I like the fact I can sell the same product over and over. I used to design websites, but doing something once and getting paid once isn't as profitable as doing something once and getting paid over and over.

The better business model is the one that makes you the most money! Obvious but true. Each business model suits different people; some may prefer product creation and other CPA. Others may prefer affiliate marketing via Clickbank. There is no right answer.....follow your skills and interests, drive hard, never give up........you will make money.

Your questions is not considered a dumb one. Product creation is a greay way to go. Writing a e-book is a great money making way.

I like product creation. To me it's a better feeling to create a high quality product and stand behind it over cpa offers, most of which I don't feel good about promoting. It boils down to that. Money wise, I do fine. Never did much cpa so I'm sure others will tell you that they make bank doing it.

      It's an excellent question.

It all boils down to what you like to do.:-)

I like product creation, because I have complete control, and I can predict more or less, what the results will be.

Why not try both, and see where your natural inclinations lie?

There's no harm in just trying out business models until you find the one that's right for you.

      Good luck exploring. :-)

        It's all about personal preference.

Product creation means that you are obviously going to need to create a product to begin, setup payment processing, deal with customers, look for affiliates, market your product, and so on.

The CPA approach is easier in that you don't need a product. All you need to do is push a particular offer. Essentially, it's the marketing your doing.

Product creation can be very lucrative once you get things rolling as you can literally have tons of other people doing all the work for you. It does require more work (at least initially) though. With CPA you are going to constantly have to market the offer yourself but you won't have to worry about much when it comes to payments/customers. Again, it's all about personal preference.

1.Product creation- That's where the REAL money is. CPA is just something temporary, if you ask me.

    2. Dont do both at the same time- trust me when i say that you will never be able to focus and get the results you wanted!

      Suthan,

You make a great point. I have suffered from "too many irons in the fire" syndrome and I am just coming out of it.

This is a great discussion. I am sure any of the CPA gurus would say, "why waste your time building a product when you can throw up a landing page or direct link to CPA offers and begin generating immediate income today".

The great thing about making your own product is definitely the instant gratification that comes with seeing that money in your paypal account.

What about another option? What about building a membership site around your niche? Think about it. If you think you can get a good following (or if you already do) why not consider monetizing your site. Do the work once and get ongoing residual income and just add to the content gradually.

Let's say you charge $17 a month for your awesome content and expertise and you grow your site to 1000 members >>>>> now you have $17,000 a month residual income coming in and you have a list of 1000 people that see value in what you have to offer. You now have the income and the freedom to develop even more products to sell to your current subscribers and continue growing your membership.

I guess you could look at your site as your "product". I am big in to developing residual income streams. It kind of creates a security net.

      Just an idea.
