From my own experience, which is limited as i only ever run 3 campaigns on adwords, your best options are:

1.- Look for long tail keywords that will have a lesser cost.
2.- Change the wording on your ads. Google actually rewards you for higher CTR (Click THrough Rate) by reducing the cost of your clicks.
3.- If you have tried this beforeand your CTR improved but the cost of your ads stays high. CLose the account and create a new one and when asked for your reason, state that a high cost per click.

All of this may have changed as I have not been on adwords for over a year.

    Hope this helps

The first thing you need to know is: It's pretty hard to build a list with AdWords without a good budget. You need a few thousand dollars to get started.

However, don't try to build a list without making any sales. Create a good squeeze page and capture leads. But when people sign up offer them something to buy. The famous OTO (one time offer) helps a lot here.

If you are not experienced with PPC you won't even pay your expenses (so don't even think about profits ), but it will make you some money.

Also, you may prefer the free methods. SEO, Article Marketing and Social Marketing use to work with list building. Depending on your niche you will have many other alternatives, so don't hurry. Maybe PPC is the fastest way, but it's also the most expensive!

When using adwords make sue you link it up with Analyzer so you can track your results and really hone in what is happening.

I just did a revamp of a customers adword campaign and saved him thousands while alos increasing his conversions and traffic.

You really need to watch all your keywords and cull anything not working and keep an eye on conversions etc.

If there not adding to your bottom line why pay for them.

AdWords is tricky, to conquer it you need a solid understanding on how their system works.

    My tips:
Try and avoid single keywords (they cost more)
    Monitor your campaign's constantly
Make sure you track conversions (so you can make wise decisions towards pricing)
Make your ads entertaining (don't write generic looking ads)
