What's the point of split test broadcast messages?

I mean... broadcast messages are sent out once. What's the point of split testing these?

I'd rather love to have split test follow-up messages (in aweber). That would make a lot more sense to me.

Am I missing something?

    Hello Marc

With broadcasting, you would test different versions on random sample groups of your list. Whichever performs the best would get sent to the rest of the list.

It's more relevant when your list is big enough to allow you the luxury of doing this.

then again sample group 1 might be naturally less reluctant to purchase, compared to sample group 2 lol

I was refering to randomly selected groups of the same big list which is about as good as it gets.

By definition, statistics isn't an exact science.

If you split test a broadcast message to a 100k list of people.. you can send one message to 20k, another message to a different 20k and the best performing message to the remainder of the list.

Of course, this is over-simplified and can also include many different variables.. but you get the point?

    Peace

      Thanks!

      Now it makes sense.

Not only that, but if you hit a blockbuster message with your broadcast, what's stopping you from adding it to your sequence, if appropriate?
