Well, the on-page SEO part would be easy, as many of them haven't bothered. But with domain ages like 10-13 years and backlinks in the thousands, that is gonna be really hard. If it were me, I'd keep looking.

I dominate those kind of stats all day long...the page rank is not too bad at least on the first one, hardly any backlinks, no edu or gov bl's....the domain backlinks mean nothing, those could be ezine article sites, squidoo etc. (easy to outrank)

Go for it!!!...or pass them on to me and I will go for it

There are a few sites there that you should be able to overtake without much problem. Unfortunately, the top spots seem to be occupied by sites that are aged and/or have a crazy amount of backlinks.

I might try, but I wouldn't hold my breath for top spot right away.

Oh, btw, the program is Market Samurai

If you get a keyword rich domain name and a good on page SEO, you should get in the top 5 with a couple backlinks (even weak ones)(even without backlinks if you do great on page SEO). The first spots are also very easy to take. You will need to get some more backlinks and it will be fine.

If you have the exact keyword domain name then don't even think about it, GO GO GO

Time frame for top 5: 3 days to 2 weeks (depends on you)

Don't worry about the domain backlinks - look at the page backlinks. The domain age doesn't really matter, either, if the specific page isn't actually trying to rank for that term.

All of the top sites for both of those keywords look as though they are just benefiting from being authority sites when they aren't actually about those specific keywords nor are they trying to actively rank for them.

    Go for it!

As someone who is daring to break in the car insurance niche, my suggestion is to HAVE PATIENCE.

I've yet to find a comfortable backlink method of my own.

Ok I have a similar type question because I have been using MS all day and doing tons of reports on various keywords. When you guys look at this SEO competition module view you are really concerned about:

    1. Page Rank? I am thinking from the this thread and various comments and video's I have watched a 0-4 would be worth going after?

    2. You are more concerned with a low number of Page Back-Links (BLP) than the high number of Domain Back-Links (BLD) I get the impression from the above comments that if there is a low number of page backlinks that you would assume that they are really not trying to even really dominate this word or niche? Low BLP is good for me?

    3. Now on Domain age (DA) many of my searches are similar to above, alot of very old and a few mixed in that seem brand new (-). Some even just small one page sales pages pushing a product or book. I am thinking that is a good sign to see those ranked in top ten, means I can comepete and try to go after it?

Of most of my searches many have looked just like this above. Most of my searches have been for a min of 25 (preferable alot more) searches a day (exact phrase) and a max of 150,000 SEOC. I am thinking this is large and really try to focus in the SEOC range of 30-65,000.

I am just not sure if I have found a good niche or If I should keep looking and try to think outside the box and dig deeper. My numbers similar to the above do not seem to stand out to me as a great niche.

Should I even be super concerned with page rank right away? I plan on doing many things to drive traffic like article and video marketing and driving backlinks to my site through social bookmarking etc. I am selling an affiliate product. How much realistic traffic can I get from just the article and video marketing or should I really keep looking and try to get a niche were I can dominate frony page indexing?

Sorry for the long winded message, I just have alot of questions as I have been running searches and researching for a niche and keywords all day. Just think I am missing something now.....and I thought I had this all down the other day....lol

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Matt

Just wanted to remind you that dominating a niche is not about outranking two keywords, but being the person or website that people first think of when they think about the niche.

You need to be present in several social media outlets, getting interviewed, or have a huge following. When you dominate a niche, people do not search you up on google. They go directly to your site.

Google is dominating the seach engine niche. They are not ranking first for search engine. Still when you someone mentions a search engine, google comes to mind.

Well maybe I phrased that wrong in my post. I guess I am more concerned about being indexed on the first page of the search engines for my given keywords.

Should I be super concerned about organic traffic or would marketing to the article directories with good quality content bring me alot of traffic without getting indexed?

So I guess when it comes down to it, my question is more about how much traffic can come from article marketing while working to get indexed on first page?

And how do I tie all this into the tools we use to evaluate a keyword? Should I be more concerned about low competition? Or maybe just be concerned with high search count?
