Any free software for this?

Hi Warriors,

Looking for some free graphic software that will open .PSD files (from Photoshop) and allow me to save in PDF. I tried GIMP and it is NOT user friendly. I spent 2 hours on it and still couldn't figure out how to make a box and color it in nor an easy way to type words in much less change the font! I tried OpenOffice Draw but I couldn't open the PSD file unless I missed something.

PLEASE tell me there is something else!!!

THANKS!

Try paint.net it is a great program and it's FREE.
I use it all the time.
Serf.com is also another program you may want
    to check out.

They are both very good programs and I use both.
    They are easy to use.

Mobiusman talks about the Head Brain/Gut Brain system. Did you know you have two different brains?

Thanks! I will check them out to see if they open the files.

Ok, update, I tried Paint and it does not open PSD files and you cannot safe files as a PDF unless you go to print. But has a PSD plug in. Maybe there is one for the PDF.

Second update, I think he meant serif.com which is $99.

Image converter plus might be your solution. You need to double check if it has a fre trial of some sort.

Have you tried Gimpshop? Unlike the original Gimp, Gimpshop closely resembles Photoshop. You could find more info here:

      Hope this helps,

Well I just figured it out and it actually works - kind of a strange combination though!

1- Use Apple Quicktime, it will actually open a PSD file. You can use the free version, you don't need the Pro.

2 - Use Cute PDF or a similar PDF printer (the Warrior Forum has one of these as well).

3- Print the image from Apple Quicktime to Cute PDF.

And voila - a PDF version of your PSD file!

Voila, indeed! Nice detective work there, mywebwork.

Here is a list of alternatives to Photoshop, but I'm not sure how compatible they are with .psd and .pdf files:

      Hope this helps.
