Great ideas guys...

How about finding targeted blogs to comment on? (no follow not making a difference as this is for the purposes of engaging in the discussions of the niche)

These are where I find mine:
  1. Blog
  2. Forums
  3. Classified Ads
  4. Directory of Ezines
  5. Google Alerts
  6. Squidoos lens
  7. Facebook
  8. Twitter
  9. MySpace
Use the keywords related to your niche and search for them in these sites. =)

Cheers,
John

Forum searching

Google searches:

1. keyword inurl:forum
2. keyword inurl:board
3. keyword inurl: phpbb
4. keyword inurl:viewtopic

etc.

Forum search sites:

BoardReader.com
BoardTracker.com
Omgili.com

Nice Mark...

Do you also have a similar process for blogs?

No, not really. Mostly just use Google blog search and
Technorati. I'd definitely be interested in other ways though, too.

ForumBot by Incansoft lets you search from within the program for forums by keywords. It then adds all them to your profile and semi-auto signs you up for them. It's pretty slick.

I usually use Google for keyword+forum

Example: weight loss forum

Later after I've found several forums, I join and make a thread asking, "does anyone know weight loss forum beside this forum?"

-.-
