marketing an iphone app

INTERNET MARKETING

I'm an iPhone developer that have been working on odd games here and there. I did make some money, but for an app that I've been developing (a fitness app), I thought it could be worth spending extra effort on the marketing side of things.

I googled around for internet marketing and somehow got here. Where should I start? What parts of this site should I browse?

btw as an fyi, I made an app called iShake. While not exactly a fitness app (it's more like a practical joke app), I tried the "set the app for free and after a while make it a paid app" tactic, and while it did pay off it makes me wonder if I could have done better. The sales kept increasing until it hit the #10 most downloaded free app of that day, and I quickly switched it to $1. I did get money out of it, but not too much..

Hi Underthesun, this sounds like something you can seek information from someone who has involved in mobile marketing. There is a member here named "silho" who has been quite active in cell discussions who may be of assistance. I myself have not had the opportunity to develop an app as of yet but have had experience with mobile development and have advertised on admob and gained a nice amount of traffic.

Dunno, can you branch out of Iphones? I had heard there were over one billion apps for it (maybe it was a million) I don't have one but seems it would get lost?

BTW miellas: I love your teeny websites for phones, My sites just seem to automatically get re-sized when I look at them on a phone. (at least the html ones do.) I was unaware one needed to do anything to make it phone compatible. Does having the 'mobi' extension make a difference? does a site get both a .com and .mobi extension? Or having a mobi extension return it higher in a phone google search? (And if so, would having duplicate sites one with a .com and the other with .mobi extension be a good thing?) Enough questions? Lol.

Thank you for your kind words on my mobile sites. No need to have to purchase a .mobi extension for your mobile sites. You can always add m.yourdomain.com and such. I am a big supporter of .mobi and believe it is much easier to differentiate that .mobi is made for mobile.
