SNOOPED on Myself and found a Pirate! I may just let it slide
I have a campaign from 2008. The domain is directed to another site that hosts a video squeeze page.
I no longer care about that product or make money from it, so I decided I wanted to use this domain for my new product.
Anyway, I went to check the backlinks, and found one coming from a random site - a link I know I did not make.
On that site, the guy had linked to my squeeze page, but also links directly to the affiliate program with his link - several times.
To add insult to injury, he has taken a review blogpost I wrote word for word - even has "avenuegirl" on it and slapped that up on his site as well!
I had to stop myself as I am getting a backlink to the domain - but the dope could have even taken it a step further and just embed my video without giving a link.
I know he knows how to embed, as there is a youtube video on the same page.
I think this was somehow scraped from my blog and links to the affiliate program were replaced with his own.
I clicked through to be sure, and the hop name is not mine.
Would you complain if you no longer endorsed the product and were planning to repurpose the domain?
