Affiliate Marketing Tips... Please help

Ok so here's a few questions that I'm sure a bunch of people have with affiliate marketing and using mini sites...

1. What's better, creating an affiliate blog on an Actual Domain OR using a free blogspot blog? What do you prefer to use for your affiliate sites? What have you had more success with?

2. How much additional content is enough? I know the idea is to make the blog look populated with info and to in essence have your latest posting be related to the affiliate offer... But how man other posting should you have?

3. Is it better to just have static content or keep updating it? If you keep updating it how do you work an affiliate offer into it? Or than an ad block on the side...

I'm not necessarily looking to create an expansive blog here - I'm just looking to use blogs as a way to get traffic to affiliate offers.

Just voted, custom domain name with wordpress installed, loads of articles, a few banners and a home page set up to showcase one big seller...

Having your own setup means you can control what you want, putting all your hard work into something like blogger means it could all come crashing down at some point...

    Hello.

A blogger blog is always owned by google, so they can do what they want or delete it (not that they would). If you get your own domain and host your own wordpress one, that would work better, at least you own in.

    Wordpress benifits (compared to blogger)
    • You own the blog (if hosted on your domain)
    • You can add plugins to make it SEO friendly
    • You can distribute podcastes with the various plugins
    • many wordpress forums who offer help
    • 100's of templates which you can choose from
    • You can make it sexy as hell, using colourful templates (sorry for using a naughty word )
Posting? 2-4 posts a week.....but even once a week is fine. It is more about quality of your posts, compared to quantity. Just write well, and the efforts will pay off long term.

    Otherwise hope that helped!

Actual domain is a far better choice.

Blogger is good and its great for starting out or testing a product but eventually you want to have a custom domain name and use wordpress. This will rank very well and you can customize it better than blogger sites.

But the most important thing is its your real estate and you can keep it for as long as you like, but with blogger if they decide to close down then there goes all of your work.

Well yes having your own domain is good... but what about the case where you're making like 50 blogs in different niches that's main goal is to promote affiliate offers?

50 domains can get a little pricey... plus the added downside that unless you get a unique IP for each domain anyone can just do a reverse whois and see all the blogs being hosted....

Definitely get your own domain for your blog so you have control over it.

...and I don't think making your blog "look" populated with information is the right way to go, but spend time producing good quality content that your visitors will actually read and want to come back and keep reading your latest posts. If the posts give nothing of value, then no-one will really stick around that long or bother coming back let alone click on any affiliate links.

    Hope this helps.

having your own custom domain really works best.considering the fact that you dont know what you might turn this domain into.

but getting it shut down suddenly only because you dont have a full control over it.is worse than having your heart broken.

for the content, to me it doesnt really matter how many post you make. what matter most is the quality of your content you can give to your visitors, that will make them either bookmark your site and have them come back again and again or they can just sit glued and wait for your next post!
