Need advice for marketing process after opt-in

Hey Warriors,

I need some help here. We are due to launch our first product on Feb 17th. I need some advice on how to properly set-up my follow up sequence for follow up after a prospect opts-in.

I know I need to provide tons of value but how often should I email them with a promo emails for our product? When should schedule the first promo email? 30 days after opting in? a week after? etc...

Also, how many times should I email the prospect with my promo? once a week for a month? Once a month for a year?

Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Brandon

    The way I do it..
1st email I do a hard sell and this is right after opt-in
2 email softsell 2 days after
3 email content 3 days after
    then 3 days
    then 2 days
    then 5 days
    then 4 days
    then 5
    6
    7

When your opt-in is hot it's the time to mail more often in the begining to establish a relationship..
Then taper it off over time..
    Email once a week..

Another thing: You can only promote your product so many times to your list. If they get ten emails in a row all doing nothing but giving the hard-sell on your product--some will buy--but many will stop reading your mails.

Try to find products in your niche that are closely related to yours that you can promote in emails as well. For whatever reason, most of your opt-ins are not going to buy your product. But hit them with something related and you will get sales there as well.

But like you said, give them value and build a relationship of trust to keep them opening your emails. Good luck! Mike

    Hi Brandon,

Every list is different, but waiting 30 days may be a bit long. Regardless of what frequency you start with, be sure to monitor the results and change it if needed.

Whatever information and/or offers you send them, be sure they are relevant to their expectations (which you have guided them into).

Also, after they make a purchase, move them into another list. There are two main reasons for this.

    1. Who wants to see repeated sales pitches for something they already bought?

    2. The list of buyers should get even more value if possible. In other words, go after new subscribers, but don't forget where your money is already coming from.

On another note, I believe the most important message each subscriber receives in your series is always...

    ...the next one!

You mentioned providing tons of value, so my crystal ball tells me you are destined for success my friend.

    All the best,
    Michael

      Hey Michael,

Thanks for the great tips. Is there a way to automate the process of having people removed once they get on my customer list? I use get response.

I'm sure there is, but as I've said this is my first product so I haven't yet created a customer list.

      Thanks

        Hi Brandon,

Sorry, I can't speak specifically for Get Response as I don't use them. You may want to check for any settings related to "automation" or "move", check the FAQs, or their user forum.

That being said, one way to do it in AWeber is to set up an automation rule. Because AWeber does not have a move feature, subscribers will have to opt in to the new list themselves, but once they do, they will automatically be removed from the old one.

My guess is that most top-tier autoresponder services have some sort of mechanism in place to make switching people to new lists easier.

        All the best,
        Michael
